Average joe's hate Moore's ideas!!!
While having an arguement with friends late last week, one asked me, "What do you think of the changes made to Starbuck in the remake of Battlestar, to a woman?"
Before i could answer my other friend says "WHAT CRAP, how can you make a known character a woman? what Bulls***! But..it sounds so stupid!"
I retorted i know!!! Hollywood don't listenthey remake everything these days. Retarded people got more sense, than a board room full of exec suits! Conversation then when on to other things other than BG (like cussing each other (hey we're guys after all)
Ron Moore? average joes with a little knowledge of BG who know of the character of STARBUCK know it wrong to remake a well known and liked character into a Colonel bitch slapping, bra jogging, foul mouth mental wires crossed chick with no self respect to other officers, would be classic sci-fi character!
Talk all you want of how you want to make the new BG better, we're sick an tired of arrogant hollywood schmoe's wishing to tell us what will be a success and what is "pass it"?
Once people are reminded of BG amd what it is about, they will turn on you in droves! I think this summer if people want the classic sci-fi, Man Vs Machine! they will watch and enjoy "The Matrix movies" and the "Terminator 3" movie rather than be told Remakes are the shiznit and classic continuation is out.
Going to another con this week and i'm printing more flyers (Gastrof's) to take with me. Not alot i'm on a tight budget. Hopefully people will be more aware of the situation and write letters, e-mails and look around the internet while there is time left.
Live and learn Ron Moore, live and learn. Majority of fans don't want your B.S. version of Galactica. No more sentimental piss poor excuses, DeSanto and Singer had the right stuff and you do not!
There are 65 million or more like my friend, who share our combine disgust at the remake. Pretty soon the petitioning and rallying will turn into anti-New Galactica with fans bombarding magazines, conventions and websites with images and messages against this.
After afew days i forgot about that converstion i had, and it was tense people. BG's remake news in magazines is making us fans talk especially the old ones! My friends ain't the kind of people to petition or go online or talk about it as big fans but they remember the classic enough to hate Moore's version with a vengence! But if you made people like them aware of the changes this series will go through. Only then would some real goings on might happen in favor of BG instead of just debates, pulp culture would finally wake up and disagree.
Hollywood lives by brainwashing "Give it to them unchanged and enough times and in remake mode and they will love it!" Not if the masses knew of the crap they were fed would they accept it!
*- Bitching slapping colonel's low level jr officers Vs Honorable Colonial Warriors
*- Female Starbuck Vs Male Starbuck
*- 6 of 12 Vs Classic Cylons
*- Gift shop Galactica Vs Kick ass Galactica fighting Cylons at Gamoray
*- Female Boomer Vs Male Boomer
*- Remake Apollo= Screw you dad your the reason Zac's dead Vs ("From Fire in space") Classic Apollo= "Colonel my Family?"
*- Horny young Baltar unsure of his betrayal Vs Baltar who sold out the human race for Power not Sex i.e. more evil version!
KJ
You decide what people would rather see and what millions upon millions the world over remember Ron? you remake crap or you decision to put your ego aside and get Tom DeSanto and Bryan Singer on your mobile phone's No.1 speed dial option!

Thanks Jason
It's comforting knowing that the casual viewer in England aren't buying into Moore's bullsh*t.

Adding to KJ's thoughts...
KingJason,
I want to add to your comments.
Over the past week, I've been getting daily e-mails to the BG web sites, talking about:
"I'm so excited the show is coming back! A friend told me (...) Tell Richard Hatch that we're behind him 100%"
(This isn't an exaggeration; this is the type of e-mails I'm seeing almost exclusively. Whether it's from people watching the SCI-FI Channel BG commercials or checking back into the web site or getting pumped up from the BG videogame news or ??, I don't know.)
It gnaws at the core of my being when I write back to these folks (not all, but some, given time constraints) to tell them that Richard Hatch's efforts can still be seen in his BG novels, but that the SCI-FI Channel has chosen to remake/reimagine the original series with a new cast -- and retell the story.
NOT A SINGLE PERSON LIKES THE IDEA.
In fact, I've gotten hate mail after sharing that, having to explain, "I'm just the messenger. Don't shoot me!" (paraphrased)
People aren't going to be totally dissuaded from watching the BG mini-series. We're going to see people tuning in out of curiousity, out of genuine interest, and out of love for what's coming.
Do know: In another thread, I asked people for their feedback for an "education kit." It will be published fairly soon.
I would also encourage people here to contemplate an FAQ to educate people about the longtime struggles between the Hatch vs. Larson/Moyer effort, the Hatch vs. Larson effort, the Singer/DeSanto effort and the Eick/Moore effort. There are going to be a LOT of newcomers who won't have a clue what's happened over the past few years. (Maybe you guys can host a copy of the education kit here.)
I just wanted to say that KJ's sentiments are definitely showing up here on BG.com and BP.com. And as one person quipped tonight: "It may look/smell like the original show, but s__t still looks--and stinks--like s__t."
Michael

Maybe it sounds more harsh that it really is but i'm not damning anyone!
You'd be a little more surprised yourself, when your post is moved all of a sudden. Guess thats what starts the fighting on message boards all the time. People thinking the tone of the message is a Demand or damning, rather than a "heads up" kind of thing.
But i'll admit am a no nonsense guy when i'm serious( i love to joke and play about as much as anyone), guess it sound just as harsh when i put it out there in times when many other Bboards are censor happy!

The title fo the forum says "Pop in here to chat about anything OS Battlestar Galactica related. Cast & Crew ? Ship designs? All subjects welcome!" with OS meaning original series, lol. This is about the new show and critique thereof.
There is nothing wrong with this thread being in the G3 remake forum. Then when people say, "I agree, they shoud have done this and that" it will be apropos.
Beaming up.....

There nothing wrong with it being here either! Your point being?.......... well.
When i post on the "Galactica 2003 fixing it" forum i'll post there gladly but until then. removing someones post just because you voted or deemed it, to be something else is wrong! Regardless how you defend it.
Come bet if you did that to everyones thread there would be confusion and chaos, cos what you put in one forum would be tampered with by mods due to their judgement?
This and that were examples of the arguement me and my friends were having, it grew to spoofing their bad choices in the script and direction the new version is taking true, but nothing that would warrent it to be removed because it drew parallels between the remake and classic series? I brought up a discussion i had and it was for this board.
You were wrong in messing with it, and i told you this openly not by screaming and turning the Bboards blue, but with words of surprise and stern concern on my part?.
Seems you shouldn't jump the gun and take my tone he wrong way. I didn't jump down anyone throat. Just plain concern is all.
Funny how there are boards preeching freedom of speech on the subjects raised by fans, but there is tampering of members post because someone in a important position who views the post differently than others, and moves it due to mi-reading it.
Strange world?

Between doctor visits, work commitments, family, special BG projects, doing some consulting for the potential "Space: 1999" next-generation-type show, working hard on Galacticon 2003 and the fact my wife is expecting: I've been ultra, ultra busy.
Do PM when you can.

I'll second that. IMO it's absolutly important for newcomers to have the chance to learn about what happened.
I've added such a section to my page
www.battlestarfanclub.de
a year ago, it's called "Revival History" and it informs detailed about every single revival project since 1996:
Tom DeSanto und sein „Team Galactica“ (November 2001)
Bryan Singer und Tom DeSanto (22.02.2001)
Das „Biodome-Projekt“ von Bonnie Hammer/SciFi-Channel (17.01.2001)
www.battlestarmovie.com - Das Larson/Moyer-Projekt (März 1999)
Richard Hatch (Apollo); „The Second Coming“ (seit ca. 1996)

The Game intro sounded a lot like Dune's intro.
