Glimmer of Hope for BSG?
There seems to be a significant silence over at Scifi/Ron's-place, the "press-kits" seem to be due out in mid-May.
Whatever Scifi-Bonnie's intentions, Universal is holding the redlight/ greenlight switch.
Scifi is up for sale.
I wonder if Universal/Vivendi is looking at X2's imminent release, and looking at the bean-counters' totals in a new light.
If X2 is another smash hit, a DeSanto BSG might rise like the Phoenix from the ashes.
DeSanto wants to make BSG.
Universal wants a franchise to rival Trek.
With Santo (post Xmen2 if a big hit) on board, would SciFi's sale price attract higher bids?
I can't help wondering if Universal are waiting for X2's opening, and if it's good, perhaps Moore and Eick are out quicker than they can pack, and Tom gets to update BSG into a legend.
Sorry about my thoughts being scattered over the place a bit (typing while tired), but the portents look promising for a change.

The Best Hope
Sci-Fi needs to rid itself of Bonnie Hammer. Scare Tactics is stupid. I turned it on and quickly turned it off. It has nothing to do with science fiction. I never really tuned into Farscape but the show was a hit and didn't deserve to be cancelled.

SciFi must be in toruble- they're running infomercials to pay the bills. That's really scraping, programming wise.

Why is it
...That the Infomercials have a Higher Production Value than the shows that Bonnie Produces.
I blocked SciFi channel after the season close of Stargate, and after that cold slap in the face to the Farscape fans, but according to my sister in TX who watched the premiere of Scare Tactics, she said that was a real POS, worse than Dream Team.
The best thing about Dream Team was the cute little blond in the Promos talking about her girlfriend kissing her...

Glimmer of Hope
Corwyn: this is why 2 of your fellow CF members are holding a virtual birthday party at your local theatre for X2 any time in the first three weekends (between May 2 and 17th) for all Galactica fans. It may only be a thank you to Tom for trying: but I for one would like to see him having shockingly good numbers so it makes Universal salivate to have him at the helm of BSG. They'd just have to get out of the man's way and he'd do right by us.
And did I mention he'd satisfy the international fan base and make money over & over. (Always have to point that out, just in case we still have lurkers).
The X2 trailer rocks!

Suggestion Jewels
EVERYONE should send their Ticket Stubs to Bonnie Broomstick with a small note that says "With Love from a TOM DESANTO FAN"

Na, I'd rather send them to David Kissinger: He is still Studios USA's head right? He be her boss.

Good Point
Bonnie would just have her Flying Monkey's (Milty and the other Moore Fans?) eat them.

Infomercials
SciFi's been running them for years. There are no production costs for the channel and they get paid to run them - it's pure profit. They run them wee hours of the morning when nobody's (well, only us insomniacs)watching anyway.
And remember, thanks, apparently, to the Omniscient Hammer, it's not so much the SciFi Channel anymore, it's the Horror Channel.
'nuff said.

I was watching the Buck Rogers marathon yesterday when 2 figures came running across the bottom of the screen. It was an ad for Scare Tactics.

"X-Men 2" - it's a given
"X-Men 2" is going to do huge numbers on its' first weekend out, for the sheer fact that it is the first BIG blockbuster movie out of the gate for the summer season, aside from the Adam Sandler movie "Anger Management" which is a comedy. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that "X2" will do at least $80-90 million its' first weekend - I think the first one did like $50-60 million.
I'm going to try to be there for the opening weekend, just to support the movie and show my support for Singer/DeSanto. I like the idea of sending my ticket stub to either Bonnie Hammer or David Kissinger with a note attached to it saying "With love from a Tom DeSanto fan - do the same for "Galactica" and we will be there."
I might just do that.

X2 ticket stubs to Bonnie
That sounds like something that could make Bonnie's days even more horrible. Send her the ticket stub with the following note:
Dear Bonnie,
Here is one Battlestar Galactica fan and DeSanto supporter who will NOT be watching your re-imagined mini. You had the chance to accept the DeSanto version of a continuation of a classic series, as well as a lucrative product franchise, but chose, instead, to go with the Moore script and infuriate the thousands of Battlestar Galactica fans who have been waiting for 25 years for an updated continuation. Your proposed "wider audience" has decreased by one with the sending of this ticket stub.
If this does nothing else, it will cause a lot of concern in the SciFi Channel mail room. The snail mail address for Mrs. Hammer is as follows:
Bonnie Hammer, President
The SCI-FI Channel
1230 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10020-1513
It may not do anything for us, but it will send a message to Hammer & Co.

Lucifer, I like it!
Since I know I'll see X2 more than once, I'll send ticket stubs to all those concerned.
Hey, here's an idea, and it helps spread the "good news" See if you can encourage other X2 viewers to send their Ticket stubs in as well, make sure you print up some copies of those addresses, and explain to them what's being done to DeSanto, AND Galactica, and encourage them to help.
I mean, if Milty can fish outside the Galactica Pond for support, why can't we...
Also, if any of you are on the X-Men bboards, Please, post this idea, along with a GOOD description of what Bonnie Hammer, Ron Moore, and that Fat, Balding partner of Moore's did to DeSanto, and encourage them to participate in the X2 Ticketathon.
Maybe if BonBon and her Boss recieve more than a few thousand Ticket stubs, maybe they'll get a message...
We haven't alot of time to implement a full blown movement here, but it has to start somewhere.
Make it a goal to encourage who-ever you can to encourage who-ever they can to send as many X2 Ticket Stubs to Hammer and her Boss.

GOOD description...exactly.
Don't rant. Don't be insulting. Just explain the facts as calmly as possible. I've lost the link to the filmjerk review and that could be one thing used to show exactly what changes have been made. There are a lot of people around who probably aren't avid fans but they still remember the original show, and an explanation of the radical changes proposed might get them to give us a hand. I think it's worth the effort to give this a shot because, as was noted, if the Moore supporters can go outside, so to speak, so can we.
