Fat Lady on the Stage!
This post from Sci-Fi's board:
Fat Lady on the Stage
Date: 03/11/2003
From: TwoBrainedCylon
The format decisions on the BSG project have all been made and finalized. For the moment, I'll remain silent as to which path they chose except to say it is not a continuation. There have been quite a few changes to the script as others have indicated. I can't say much more.
I have to agree with Milton. I'm fairly impressed with the team working to put the project into motion. Its a good actor list and the effects team its a damn good group of people. Their work is top-notch. I don't concur with AV's budget info but I'm not worried about that as much as some since the people I know working on this have a good history of doing a lot with limited resources.
Quite a few have asked me lately about letter campaigns. I beleive that aspect is over and anything further there would be a wasted effort. At this point, if the format changes, it will not change according to fan input either from long-time supporters or a new fanbase. I debated letting everyone continue the fighting but that seemed a bit useless since it merely added stress to some fans and wouldn't benefit anyone.
For the moment, this is all the details I'm willing to give. Others may wish to expand on this.

C'mon people
Someone step up to the plate and deliver the goods. Did we get a prequel or what?

News flash, kids- they don't listen to fan input! Gee, really? Lol. I think we knew that from the beginning, thanks.
"I debated letting everyone continue the fighting..."
Nice of (her?)- What, now we can't continue writing and petitions without permission?
"but that seemed a bit useless since it merely added stress to some fans and wouldn't benefit anyone."
Bull. If it adds stress to some fans, they need to go read a good book, or take a walk. I'm not about to stop voicing my real opinion or desires because some pundit says it is a 'fight', since I'm not expressing what the PTB want to hear. Nor am I going to stop writing because someone says, in their opinion, that it is causing stress. Okay, fine. They can tell Ron Moore and his Troll Brigade to cease all activity, it's causing stress to the fanbase. Lose that horrible script while they're at it, that's *really* stressing me.
Lol......

Well said, Micheleh! We've been told this before - it's all over now, you can throw in the towel. Seems like that's what some people want us to do. I'm with you.

Red herring?
As far as I know, Two Brain may have been fed false info to try to stop fan efforts that indeed are having an effect on the production. So let it be "business as usual" with letters, petitions and all! At least until we get a better idea of what is really going on.

Paranoid Fan Reactions
Micheleh and Oja,
You all are amazing. Sometimes I can't believe the paranoid reactions things get. I'm not sure how you got that message but don't at all feel that I'm trying to indicate that you need my or anyone elses permission to express your support. For the rest, you wouldn't believe the number of conspiracies and agendas I've been blamed for since posting that notice.
Everyone might want to stop and actually read the damn thing. It says a decision on the format has been made -- period. Nothing more. The format has been chosen. It doesn't say if its a remake, prequel, sidestory, or any of the other ideas being tossed around. It just says the final format decision has been made. These things do get made eventually and sooner or later events occur that prevent them from being turned around. I felt I had very good reason to believe that this production had reached that point.
I might be getting misled but I really don't think so. That announcement wasn't based on a story but on actions being taken and events occurring in which production money was being spent. I also coorinated the information I had with others who have contacts in entirely separate areas of the production and our information all agreed.
- but, I'm not trying to convert anyone or stop anyone from efforts they believe are valuable. By all means, continue on with my blessing.

TwoBrainedCylon- I know you are posting with nothing but the best intentions. It's just discouraging to many to read what can be easily misinterpreted as a reply to a query of 'Should we write letters' as 'Don't waste your breath'. People should always voice what they feel, regardless of whether it will be recieved well or not. That's all I'm saying.

Tailor the Message
Micheleh,
My advice isn't Don't Waste your Breath but tailor your messages so they will be effective. Most are sending messages saying things like "Remake!", "Continuation or Bust", etc. I was as well. Now, the message needs to change to clearly show what fans want and don't want in a production. No humanoid Cylons! No robotic handjobs! Stronger female characters, tight uniforms, keep the same ship designs, or whatever. I don't know how much fan input the production team will consider at this point but I do know the fans should tailor their messages to something that can be used. Once you've decided to do a continuation (for an example), getting messages saying "Remake!" doesn't help. Getting messages, letters, etc. that provide elements that can be incorporated does.
That's just my suggestion. In the end, I encourage everyone to continue to do whatever the Hell they want. I'm about tired of defending myself to various groups for trying to help out. I should have realized this when I walked in the door and found five dead messengers laying on the floor.

I'm not trying to be hostile or say you're wrong- you aren't. I was just trying to say how sometimes things can be misinterpreted, and I think that phrase was one that would be easy for people to misinterpret if they are in a mood to be defensive.
Get angry with me, if you like- I may have misspoken, and if I did, I'm sorry. Just don't be angry with the people here. The way you explained it in your last post makes the first quote much clearer. Not- don't write letters, its' a waste of breath- just, don't write unforgiving hardline letters at this point and be surprised if they don't carry much weight, considering where negotiations are.
Is this more accurate?

Nice to Meet You
No, that's not right. I'm a big believer in hitting hard. Just hit where you can make it count. Mine would be "No human Cylons! Ever!" for example. That affects things and is relevant no matter if they chose a remake, prequel, or continuation. "Keep the original ship designs!" might be another one of mine as well as "no split screens", etc.
I'm not angry with anyone and appreciate the apology.
Nice to meet you. My nickname is really Sandy BTW but I've progressed with a second brain and now hit the boards as the:

Hi, Sandy! Oh, good, now I can quit asking people "Uh, is TwoBrainedCylon a he or a she?" Lol!
I agree with your points, especially split sreens- except in rare instances, I don't like them. Too distracting.

Girl Names and Old Technology
Well, never to pass up a chance to brag ...
Actually, I had "Sandy" from long nights monitoring the East-West German border, communicating via a teletype to a bunch of guys posted in equally remote places. You'd send a message and it would take forever to get an answer. I started using the nickname "Sandy" (one I was called by voice already) and I instantly got an answer every time. Everyone presumed I was the one of 6 women in the entire forward area. When I and all the same guys hit the desert, the callsign was already locked and that's what I used on the radio. Later, when I was again with some of the same folks fighting insurgents in Latin America, I had the same callsign. Now, everyone but my wife calls me that.

Nope, just missed you (86-90). I was one level back, colocated with the 38th Tactical Missile Wing, near Hahn. Better winefests where I was at.

Bad Aim
My big fun like that was arresting 30 Germans who crashed the gate with an empty M-16. (No bullets allowed outside of lockers until we had been fired at. I'm sure you know that drill). I didn't get shot at by bullers until I was in Latin America. That's a better place to get shot at because their aim is a lot worse.

Right. So Sandy is a man, actually, one of the six forward women in the border area, who reccomends that if one is looking for a good place to get shot at, don't forget Brazil! (I reccomend Detroit- at leat they take blue cross.)
I need a drink, now...

Sandy,
I don't think I had a paranoid reaction, it's just that your post sounded so final. Perhaps the reaction was in answer to the many times we've heard 'It's a done deal, so forget it!' Sorry to be late in responding {I just got home} I have read your explanations above. Thank you.

Oja,
I do think its a done deal at this point regarding the format on this production. For it to not be a done deal, the present production team will have to take a hike and a new team will be put in their place. If that happens, I'll be one of the first shouting "Continuation", which isn't a bad idea anyway since that could be an entirely separate project.
Warrior,
You were in Grenada. I tip my hat to you sir!

If I can find them, can I get them gift wrapped to take home?
