Default Battlestar Galactica still loved by ordinary folk?

You're love to hear this people. In town today while in a comic book shop i was busy talking to the shop's owner while looking to buy some books on the shelves.

While talking about movies and such things, i noticed the Maximum Press Battlestar Galactica comic book (which i have all of?) Enemy within part 2 to be exact! I talked to him on it coming back as a remake.

THIS IS HIS ANSWER TO THE QUESTION POSED

"No, it should be like the TV show the original"

Without any fanboyish demands or rants, calm and cool he said the old series should be the formula to bring the show back. He didn't discuss this at great length (he had a shop to run) but after he was doing his business and listening to me talk about the current situation, unbias from both sides of the story. He got the story straight away!

Nice to know Galactica is remembered AND WANTED in it's old form with strong connections to it's past from a simple folk who just plain remember it! Cool as the term goes no?

For all you U.K. fans this is the comic shop near "Forbidden Planet" near the One Way road running across New Oxford Street. I've been thinking of giving him the Galactica petition flyer Gastrof made which i printed out maybe it's not too late to pull a few favors to get some attention to Galactica cause at the last moment?

Default Similar Experience

I mentioned Galactica to someone a couple years younger than me, a week ago. Instant response:
"STARBUCK & APOLLO! That was THE SHOW when I was growing up! Everyone watched it."

Yo, Ron/Mr. Eick/Universal: the giant is alive and well-remembered: you just have to put in the right cast and stick with the original themes and you will have something quite outstanding to line your bank accounts and please the shareholders with.

Default Ditto here also

Mention BSG to any babyboomer & it's Starbuck & Apollo. Women really liked Starbuck. RDM said Adama & Baltar were his most interesting charactors, but the first three actors cast are Lee, Kara & Boomer, go fiqure?

Don't forget, BSG was THE primetime show for the first years of Scifi, along with Buck Rodgers, even more fans RDM will piss-off?

Too true Dvo too true. I still have to search through all my VHS recorded Battlestar Galactica episodes to get all the Sci-fi Channel BG adverts, promo's, commericals etc. So even with the 65 million who watched back then, you've got more who are aware of Galactica now thanks to Satellite and Cable in many places around the world.

Ignorance, it's what the big wig in suits at universal do best, ain't that right TPTB! Come on now TPTB, don't be shy about it we know don't we?

I've mentioned BG to people I know offline. One of my co-workers looked at me, grinned, started nodding and said, "Starbuck and Apollo, yeah." I got into a discussion with someone at a local bar about who my favorite female Galactica character was. Yes, ordinary folks do have fond memories of Galactica. This is indeed a sleeping giant that needs to be awkened, and soon. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is ending in May, Star Wars will be coming to an end with the release of Episode 3, and interest in Star Trek is waning. Battlestar Galactica helmed by either Hatch or DeSanto needs to become a reality.

Especially by Tom DeSanto or Richard Hatch. As for the comic shop i was in, i'll be passing by there soon, maybe the owner will allow me to put up the Galactica flyer in the window! Others might react to it in a big way too.

As for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, too true what a kick ass season we've got so far. Pity like B5 and Xena it's run it's course now. along with Angel, Buffy next to Alias is the best thing on TV. And what a month May 2003 is going to be with Buffy's series final and X-men 2 and Matrix Reloaded playing in the cinemas!!!

2003 what a year for movies

I've mentioned to people on my job the details of this reimagination and I've gotten mixed responses. But, none of them are in favor of it. Most everyone I've taked to was split between a remake (Done along the line of something like B-5), or what they did to Star Trek...

Interesting, very very interesting! maybe Saturday i'll ask more folks in town about Galactica and see what their responces are to the Battlestar Galactica Continuation/Remake directions the series should take.

It's a no brainer really, even animated shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and other vague references in other TV shows is PROOF enough of the series lasting impressions in our pop culture period.

Huh Hollywood and their crappy remake/redo everything Fad. Hope they all crash and burn all of them.
