Just posted some new images into the Gallery. Until they're up, you can take a look at them here:

I'd appreciate any comments and criticism.
Thanks,

Galery images added in.
In the future, please place credits on the images, even if it's your own stuff. Helps protect you.

Awesome stuff, . . . you have a good eye for scene layouts. I like the effects as well, cool explosions . . .

Neil -
Love the quality of the shots....especially the one at the top right with all the MkII Vipers! I know that they're blurred for effect, but it'd be great to see some sharper action shots (just a suggestion, not a critique).
Thanks for showing us your wares!
Best,
Bryan

I've added a few more images. Again any comments and critiques would be appreciated. I had to reload all the images for some reason so the address listed below won't work any more - here's where it is now:

Bryan, Thanks for the comments. To blur or not to blur... One of things I really like about the new series is the visceral quality of the visuals. The realism portrayed in those CG shots is really incredible - and I want to convey that same realism in my stills. That said, I've done a new battle scene that's still blurred but not quite as much as the others.

 Dude . . . . . . . . . .
The Galactica Battle is without a doubt THE BEST.
schrouded in a haze of plasma ion discharge we see the Galactica come under fire by the Cylon sckurge. . . . .
Very nice dimention indeed . . you got your smoke effects you got your glow enabled, and you got your motion blur effects, what more can you ask for . . .
Only one small issue I have . . the lazer blasts are to uniform. I know that is how the projectile pattern is for the gun ports, but at a certain point in the distance your patterns should meet, and also it should be more random lazer blasts,
more chaos.
other than that . . I love it

Santee,
Thanks for the praise. I know what you mean about the gun fire. I went back into the whole thing in Photoshop and tried some new things to get them a bit more random at their farthest reaches. If only I were more patient for rendering!!

Santee,
OK take a look now. I've updated the image. I don't want to go too random in the spacing of the shots as they actually are tracers for projectile weapons, not lasers, but I think this "humanizes" it a bit more. Waddyathink?

Did you change the image, it looks almost the same, more motion blur but the shots are still too uniform . . . sorry neilfsmith. I know what you mean when you say humanize but eneven machines have some sort of randomness to them . .

Santee,
I went back to the miniseries DVD and took a look at the tracer fire. Since these are being fired in space where there is no gravity, they continue pretty much in a straight line until they hit something. This is what I'm trying to recreate here. Perhaps I'm not understanding you when you say they are too uniform. Imagine I'm a four-year-old and tell me that way and maybe I'll get it.
Thanks,
neilfsmith

sorry neilfsmith, maybe it's just me . . . the image is definately cool, I think when I see an image I automatically imagine what I would nave done and go from that. I tend to forget sometimes that there is no set rules for art impressions and that visions vary like the stars. With that said the image is fine . . I took the liberty of making an image in P.S. it is a quicky drawing but I think you get the idea of what I thought.
Now of course yours would have a lot more lazer fire, but I think you get the idea of the randomness I was thinking about. There is still order in the lanes of fire just not so neat . . . and with all the ships you have in that images, there should be lazer blast going in all sorts of directions.
I hope I didn't offend ya' brother, it's just me sticking my nose in like I know what I am talking about . . .

I've put up another battle scene: "Vipers and Raiders." I've been working on a lot of these at the same time for a while and this is the last one of the bunch. It's pretty much finished but could use a couple of tweaks. Specifically the Viper pilot; I grabbed the Viper pilot from an image off the ZOIC site. It's alright, but could be much better if I had an actual model to mess with. If anybody has a new series pilot model out there and wants to help a guy out - please give me a shout.
You can see the newest image here:

Santee,
OK - I totally get what you're saying now. I guess I just needed a visual to help. It really would give it a bit more of a sense of chaos. And no offense was ever taken... nor meant by me with the "four-year-old" line... Feel free to say what's on your mind and share your ideas... that's what these things are all about.

Galactica model and Raider model by Wil Jaspers; Viper by Sean Kennedy; Pilot image from Zoic
Hey, Warrior,
Is there any way to edit or replace the images that I've already uploded to the gallery? Also sorry it took me so long.
Thanks,
