How Many Decks on a Cylon Base Ship?
Since there are so many people here into models and CGI, I thought it would be a good place to pose this question. How many decks do you figure there are on a Cylon Base Ship?

Straight-out WAG: 80-100, without the lower flight bay, 80 max if you include the bay....

Yes, wild ass guesses are exactly what I'm looking for, since I certainly don't recall anything in canon that would nail it down. Thanks, Michael.

The only thing that I remember is that from the landing bay/deck, Apollo and Starbuck entered the Control Center, by climbing down a ladder, after opening a hatch. I'm thinking that that was likely in the "neck" area, between the upper and lower disks.

Re: How Many Decks on a Cylon Base Ship?
Always figured, or be that wondered what a cutaway blueprint of the ships on the original series would've looked like 'akin' to the Star Trek and Star Wars cutaways blueprints they've done of sci-fi models of starships/warships as such etc over the years.
And the Cylon Basestar holds over 300 fighters double the Galactica/Pegasus compliment of 150 vipers. You'd think she's more of a fighter carrier than the Battlestars and beside fighters she not truly outfitted with much else beyond fighter squadrons and armorment and heavy duty 'laser batteries' and whatnot.
How's all that for my wild ass 'guessing' interpretations!

Re: How Many Decks on a Cylon Base Ship?
Let's not leave out the mega pulsars. What did Tigh call the Base Ship? An orbiting killer.
I remember a discussion years ago on another list that concluded the Control Centre would have likely been situated in the middle of the ship, which those Hand of God scenes with our boys entering the Core would support. It would be better protected there, after all.
Anyhow, thanks for the feedback, gang. Will help with my latest Endeavour.

Re: How Many Decks on a Cylon Base Ship?
I would have thought it had more decks than a 80 to 100 myself. I would almost double it.. but I have not given much thoughts to this in some time ..
I tried years and years ago to work out the decks for a battlestar at over a mile long and got 79 decks height that include the huge engine at the back.
I think if I remember my efforts right I worked out that the landing Bay units would be about 23 to 26 decks from keel to ceiling approx .. and the main hull unit is that thick again more or less .. then add the engine and you adding up the deck heights ...
a base ship is (I think ) Twice the height of a Battlestar .
blast it anyway . I want to now finish my modelling for a Trek fan film and build the Big G and later a base ship to find out if I am right ......

Re: How Many Decks on a Cylon Base Ship?
Also to consider Cylons are machines as opposed to the humans on the Galactica. Lots of what's on the Galactica would have to support the crew's living arrangements (food, rest, recreation, sanitation, cleansing, etc) as well as practical arrangements (training, seated consoles, internal communications array, offices, etc). The Cylons wouldn't need nearly as much space so that's more room to stow the Raiders and mount weapons. Something to consider when working out the internals of the Base Stars.
