Ooooo......
I like what I see! Very cool stuff indeed - very impressive.
It's also great to see another BSG fan right in my own backyard (Sacramento).
Karl, welcome to Fleets!
Best regards,
Bryan

Thanks, by now all of you probably have gotten the word that I have made the lastest Viper Mk2 mesh available for download.
http://www.cosmic-pearl.com/Downloads.htm
So show me what YOU can do with that or the classic Viper mesh.

Here is a technical question. Would Galactica be under full power (being a carrier) while conducting recovery ops? Research, or think about that.

Yes, IMHO Commander Adama Sends the Message Stating He's Taking Control of The Fleet (Miniseries) ... He Was Nearing Retirement (as Was The BSG-75) ; and Since the Galactia is the Only Remainig Battlestar... Yes, Would Be My Answer to Your Question.

Adama Would Be the Ranking Officer in that aspect. Picard did the same thing in First Contact: Taking Control of the Fleet. (In Picard's case, he had Experience Sucessfully Fighting the Borg.) The Cylon & Colonials had Stopped Fighting Around 40 Years Ago (Thus the Creation of Armistence Station) I Would Think Think since Predident Adar was Aboard the Atalantia When she was Destroyed, (He was trying to Mount a Defence at that Point) The Galactia... Is What is Left of the Colonial Fleet.
Bare this in Mind: Colonial Fleet is What the Colonials Refer to their (NAVY) , they Also Have Colonial Marines (as We've Seen On Numerous Ocassions)

Haveke I think pixeltek is ask in regards to the recovery for Vipers and other smaller craft and not lines command ?? but then again I could be completly wrong if so disregard this But I would agree with your post anyway Haveke
Adama would in Both show assume full Command if say the President ship was not their at the same time..
Was Adama TOS second in overall Rank in the Colonial Fleet. ??? to the colonial President.
These questions should be asked in new Threads ...
pixeltek:
If you mean the Galactica herself being at full power while Viper or Shuttles landing I don't Believe so . where the Vipers could and should easly outrun the the "big G" the Shuttle would not IMO. the shuttles would run out of fuel befor reaching the "G".

For some reason my out going mail to you is not working.
My burner has not worked since the move, it made a grinding noise and I simply don't have the $$ to put it in the shop, I can only hope my computer does not die
Sorry

Kinda Falls Into the Shades Of Grey Area there.. in the Orginal Galactia Movie Galactia Was in Charge of Launching Vipers for the Patrol of the Meeting Area With the Cylons.
Now, IMHO Commander Adama Was the Only Direct Decendent from the House of the Ninth Lord Of Kobal... All the Counsil Members Carried the Seal, But Adama's Heritage Would Make Him be the Man for the Job...IMHO
Now, taking Another Look at the Miniseries... Commander Adama was a Vetern Officer of the Line (Having Faught in the Cylon War 40+ Years Ago) Having the Experience of Having Seen Actual Combat... (its Quite Possible" Battlestar Bill" (as My Friend Damcoles would Call Him) Would take the Initative & Take Command of the Entire Fleet (Remember Colonial Fleet is Their Space Navy) ...Where As With it's Starfleet...
I Think ... IMHO The Cylon (Blindeside) Attack in the Miniseries Was Far Worse than the Orginal Cylon attack on the Colonies... of Course We Never Had a Total Count of How Many Survivors Were Crammed Aboard those Slow Moving Ships During their Flight from the Cylons...
But then Again... it Was Stated that Sire Uri had AlreadyGiven Permission to Half of Our Population of the Fleet to attend the Celebration Down on the Surface of Carrilon... So it Could Very Well Go Either Way...

I doubt the Galactica would be at full thrust while landing opps would be underway. The approach path would pass through the exhaust plume from the engines. So, Vipers on approach would either have to come in at an angle and turn at the last minute, or risk slamming into the exhaust plume from those drives, on either the new or old versions, suffering a severe buffeting at best right at a critical time when fine control is needed to keep from having a ramp strike. A possible option would be to land forward. In the new Galactica, and possibly the old one as well, IIRC, the landing deck runs the length of the pod. If the Galactica is running under full thrust, the viper could pull ahead and then ease off on its trust and let the Battlestar come up from behind it at a slow relative velocity, then match speeds and land on the deck. It would be more difficult obviously, but I don't think it would be impossible if you had a landing officer talking the pilot in.

i just want to know where to get the new galactica in 3DS Max 7 format.
the only real problem i saw with the new vipers was the really large point coming out the back of the high tail. i'm pretty sure that wasn't there. otherwise, a very nice model
