Default Martok is a SEMI-HAPPY Camper...

Well folks, I walk into a Suncoast Video, and what do I find but Joyride Studios ships from Battlestar Galactica. They had a lot of Colonial Vipers and Cylon Raiders, and Centurions. Alas, my resources at that time could only afford a Viper and Raider...the Centurion will come later.

A quick review of the ships.

Detail...10. These babies are beautiful to look at.

Sturdiness....Raider/10 Viper/5 That right side wing is almost flimsy.

Packaging....2 (Some moron must've thought they'd be funny by making some of the plastic ties that held the ships in the packaging just a little too tight. Damn near snapped off one of the Viper's wings. Martok would've been most displeased--to put it mildly.)

Truth in Advertising... ??? Unless there is a third Cylon inside the impenatrable cockpit of the Raider, my Raider only came with two little Centurions. The cockpits on both ships are nigh impossible to open. So, I will not even try for fear of breaking these beauties.

Other gripes....the landing gear on the Viper looks silly...slants to one side...and the front skid was ill fitted to the nose section...the connecting hub didn't even want to go in.

Overall...I'd give the the Raider a 7.3 rating...and the Viper a 5.6 rating.

Still...I do not regret the purchases.

Semi-happily,
Martok2112

Steve -

How much is the Viper at retail outlets?

I bought one on eBay last night after looking around all weekend in the local area. I never go into Suncoast as their DVD prices are just silly.

Best,
Bryan

They were available at www.diecastexpress.com too. If the link doesn't work, let me know, I might have missed a hyphen. I think that's Joyride's online storefront though.

Cylon #3 is inside the cockpit. My cockpits opened easily but you are right about the ties, the wings and the front viper landing gear.

Well, now, I'm confoozed. Should I go " " or " " or " " ??

Regardless, it does seem like the General is all aglow!

Bryan, the ships and the Centurion were 16.99 a piece at Suncoast. It was an impulse buy .

Jewels...the only thing that could make me happier is if instead of figures for series two, that Joyride released the Cylon Basestar and the Big G herself.

BST, overall, the sheer joy of having these babies is worthy of

For the most part, yes, this general is very aglow. MUA HA HA HA HA!!!

Mine cost 14.99, but with shipping, it'll come out to an even twenty. I'm getting mine one at a time. If I was paying attention, there was a seller that had all 3 for 39.99 plus 10 bucks for shipping - I would have saved 10 bucks at the rate I'm going, but I may still see the Raider and the Centurion in the very near future.

Best,
Bryan

Yes, Suncoast is a bit more expensive (I guess specialty stores are like that.) It was the same when I got some of my Johnny Lightning Star Trek ships. $4.99 at Suncoast, and $3.99 at Toys R Us.

Wow..39.99 for all three? Not bad.

Respectfully,
Martok2112

There's a company doing 3" mini's of 4 TOS ships: viper, basestar, raider, Big G, plus a centurion. It's Japanese for the Japan market but www.action-hq.com is selling them as a set for $30 + shipping when they release.

Now if they make a second set of these mini's with the Rising Star, Colonial Movers, the Prison Barge, and the Gemni Freighter, that could get to be a very sweet little set.

Oh, yeah, I've seen pics of those, and I need to pre-order my set.

Still...would be nice if a company were to release a larger version of the Big G and the Basestar

Help!

I've got a Cylon Centurian in my mailbox!

Well.....actually, he's on top of my TV, right next to the Viper and Raider!

I like my Cylon - I've never had one before. He's very cool, but getting him to hold his rifle is kind of tricky.

I love that chrome!

Best,
Bryan

I had a couple of the Old 80's toy, not sure what happened to them. I had a Cylon Raider (it had Retractable Wings, for Firing), a Clyon and Starbuck

These are still hard to find around my parts. The cylon raider turns up, but I've never seen the other two in stores. I'm extremely jealous of everyone. I guess I should just break down and buy them online.

I resorted to eBay and got some excellent bargains, even though I got all three items from separate sellers. I didn't pay any more than I would have in stores and with the Centurion, I got it very cheaply.

There are one or two sellers that are selling all 3 Joyride figures with a "buy it now" price of 39.00 not including shipping. You might want to give eBay a cruise and see what you can come up with. If you're patient, you can do very well...!

Best,
Bryan

I've been holding out to find them in the store just for the feeling of accomplishment that goes along with it. Buying them online feels almost like I'm cheating. How stupid is that? Don't try to understand me, not ever I can do that.
You're right, e-bay can be an fantastic way of getting things. And at this point, several weeks after their release, I might as well just get on with it. Or maybe I'll try one last time to find them in the store first....

Battlestar Galactica 2004

Man, I wish there was a Suncoat 'round here. I got my Viper on-line for 20.00, best deal I oculd find. Everywhere else was either sold out or much to highly priced.

The TOS ships piss me off, as I work at TRU part-part time and could have gotten an Enterprise. Now I have to go a lookin'/....
