Default A signature, a song, and me

Just tucking away the lyrics to a song that occupies a fair chunk of my heart:

"Into the West"
performed by Annie Lennox
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
The night is falling
You have come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All Souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say
We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again
And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

Chorus

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West

Hi BST,
Like I said elsewhere, I like these lyrics. They remind me of a story about a Native American tribe. They also remind me a little of Galactica.

How did you come to like this music?

Sorry for the delay in responding, Compass.

To answer your question about how I came to like this music, primarily it's due to being absolutely taken away by the story Tolkein told. The love and fellowship shown throughout the stories struck a chord with me years ago, when I read the trilogy. Since the movies have been released, that chord has cemented itself to my soul. I truly love this tale.

I love that song too, BST, and as you know already by my love of Galadrial, I also have cemented the LOTR saga in my heart. I'm glad you quoted those lyrics, I plan to copy and repost them. Thanks.

O

Hi BST, I just now noticed your reply.
Thanks for writing back.

I liked the Tolkien movies too. They didn't quite resonate with me the way that they seem to with you, but I respect them.

I'm not sure what happened to the Native American story that these lyrics bring to mind, but if I find it I'll post it in the Muffit section.
