CFF is in your hands now.
Planning for the creation of the Colonial Fan Force and the execution of its mission began shortly after Galacticon 2003. Peter, John, and myself have now been at this for nearly a year. I hope the fans feel that we have done a half-decent job. I know that many of you have probably gotten tired of hearing my cheerleading , and that's fine... this has been a true labor of love, and I don't regret one second of it. Not one.
Our main objective is nearly met... that last $250 will trickle in over the course of the next couple of weeks, David Kerin will submit the full color ad final art to Daily Variety, and our message will hit more people in one fell swoop than we've ever been able to hit before. Bravo to us.
Other than writing the final check to Daily Variety, my job is is pretty much done. The future of the CFF Campaign lies in the hands of each of you, and the passion you have in your own hearts.
I've outlined the plan at the CFF Homepage ( http://www.colonialfanforce.org). It's the best plan that I can craft at the moment, though it may change and evolve over the next few months... and, as always, I'm open to suggestions for improvement.
As far as the "official" CFF postcards go, they're just a tool that we have made available to you. It's more important to write than it is to use CFF postcards.
John, Peter, JJRAKMAN, Micheleh, and many others have worked very diligently to provide fandom with the tools that we now have available to us. In truth, there is little more that we can do.
So I'm going to shut up now. The future is in the hands of all fandom. I will say this, however: if any of us sits back and says to himself "I've already done enough, let someone else write," then we will fail to make an impact. If any of us says "I just don't have the time, someone else will write," then we will fail to make an impact. It really is up to you.
The ads are going to make more people than ever before aware of our effort, and, God willing, it will drive a lot of traffic to the CFF site, where the plan will be outlined. The opportunity we will have to demonstrate our numbers will be unprecedented.
September is nearly here. The culmination of all of our efforts is upon us. One of two things is going to happen: we, as a fanbase, are going to shock Hollywood with a larger show of support for TOS than they ever expected; or we are going to confirm in their minds that at our best, we are but a mere handful.
I want to thank everyone who has played a part in making the CFF a success over the course of the past year, either by contributing money, or by contributing talent, ideas, and time. Here's hoping this fanbase has enough chutzpah left to make this "last hurrah" one that will echo through the cinema ticket windows of the world.
By Your Command,
Bill Gordon
President
Colonial Fan Force

CFF would not have gotten as far as we have without Bill's tireless inspiration and efforts. I salute him.
Now it's up to the rest of us fans to show how much we want to see a BSG movie. We're only 5 weeks from September, folks; Send the postcards and letters, and start now, and keep going.
This is it. This is what we've all been working for. Let's show them who we are and what we're made of.
Movie. Now.
I am
Dawg

Bill, you guys did an amazing effort with CFF. It was well organized. It was enthusiastic. And it reached its goal.
Its probably THE most effective move I've seen to revive this show outside of what Hatch and DeSanto have done.
BUT CFF is NOT the last hurrah of fandom.
Its not the last effort, nor the last hurdle. I don't mean that in any way to diminish what you did. But its like (in our show's terms) as if Apollo decided "I'm going to fly out ahead and search for earth, I'll totally exhaust all my viper's fuel cells and if I don't find it in this one last great mission, there is no earth to be found." or if Adama said that "if we don't find it in 1 year, it doesn't exist."
The struggle to resurrect Galactica has taken 25+ years. Richard Hatch has spent (I would roughly estimate) several hundreds of thousands of dollars. The amount CFF raised wouldn't pay off the debts of the Galacticon.
But it does help,. It is a wonderful marvelous thing. And you are to be commended for all you have done. Thank you!
But it is not the end of the road. We may have at least a year(or two) before we see signs that BG will be resurrected. All indications look good. But there is always much that is happening outside of our view that has significant effects on our show. Arguments, lawsuits, powerplays....I'm sure there will be lawsuits over the profits in the far future long after we have bought our BG revival movie DVDs. Hollywood leeches thrives on red tape and legalities.
The road is long... but the earth is patient. (unlike us fans!)
Don't give up. It will happen. It just will take awhiiiiiile.

*I posted this over on BSG club forum*
To me your efforts , and those of Peter and John are greatly appreciated.
Your take charge attitude gave us, the fan base, direction and revived our hope.. something we were lacking after the mini.
We were a fan base torn or divided, and I think the creation of CFF helped unite us and gave us a goal to achieve after the rug got pulled out from under us. (figuratively speaking ).
We owe all of you our thanks for being a light of hope and helping us to "speak in one voice". All of your hard work was needed and never taken for granted.
Your right, now the future is in our hands......this is what we all want and everyone needs to go above and beyond the call of duty. Even if you gave of your time or money, or even written letters and signed petitions in the past....Now we all need to write at least one more time.
One person can't carry the entire future by themselves everyone needs to play a part and astound Hollywood that the fans of TOS are still around and are worth their time.
A movie may come in its own time, but we can keep nudging it along
Thank you all again for all that you have done for " us" the fans.
Amber

At the end of the day, no matter what happens, and no matter when....if we do our part at least we know we tried. At least we know we gave it our all and we can hold our heads up high and rejoyce in our comming together for a wonderful dream that I hope with all my heart will be a reaility.

Thomas, you may well be right, this may not be the last hurrah ever. But, I think that in the short term, we have to treat it as if it is. It would be counterproductive to this effort to say... "Well, I'm too busy to participate in this round. I'll wait for the next one." Yes, the effort has survived 25+ years, and, no, we're not going to get there overnight. And if we ever get an inkling that a studio is even considering a film, we'll have to focus like a laserbeam on that possibility. But if we don't treat this campaign, right here and right now, as if it is our absolute last chance... if we don't give it that kind of passion, effort, and comittment... then we may not even make it to the next hurdle.
I'm not out for glory (and neither or John or Peter), and I don't care if the world is asking "What the hell is/was the CFF?" when they're standing in line for the movie. All I care about is that they have a movie to stand in line for.
As far as I am concerned, for Battlstar Galactica, we have to assume there is no tomorrow, and each and every one of us has to to take action today.
As Dawg said, let's show 'em who we are, and what we've got.
Onward!

The title of this thread brought a certain poem to mind here is an excerpt not that your hands are failing or anything like that but well the idea of the torch I kinda liked.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
