Default CASTING CALL, BSG-TOS Continuation, the Guys...

First of all, I’m going to need a little help with this one, me being a (straight) guy who doesn’t really watch much TV outside of Star Trek, Smallville & the Fox News Channel. So I’m not really up to date on what male actors are hot commodities, outside of a few obvious ones. So anyone (notably the ladies) who’d like to help out here on what male actors they think would be a good match for a Battlestar Galactica Continuation movie, please chime in with your suggestions.

And now here’s mine:

Original Surviving BSG TOS Actors (obviously):
Richard Hatch
Dirk Benedict
Herb Jefferson
Terry Carter
Noah Hathaway
Patrick Macnee
Jack Stauffer
Tony Swartz

Older Actors, Council of Twelve, Leaders

Bill O’ Reilly (from the Fox News Channel): OK, maybe I’m stretching here but some Council members are real arrogant political tards. Can you think of anyone better for making a nice, irritating, arrogant, antagonistic Council Member?
Besides it would be interesting to see Bill & Morgan Fairchild go head to head as Morgan would be cast as the President of the Council of Twelve.

Charlton Heston: Senior Council of Twelve member. Lots of experience with religious-themed movies, would be excellent to express the “Lords of Kobol” religion and its influence in the lives of the Colonials

 William Shatner: Oh this one will go over real big with all us BSG fans, won't it?
Opinions

Male Colonial Warriors:

Chris Noth (from Sex & The City): Honestly, can you picture anyone else who could fill the role of a Captain Apollo like character. Cast as the over Viper squadron commander, Chris has the looks & command presence. Not only that, the ladies will swoon over him. Doesn’t quite have the name recognition of say a Charlie Sheen but that could be a good thing when it comes to how much will the actor cost.

Charlie Sheen: Obviously a Colonial Warrior type and would be excellent in the role. However he might be too expensive to cast.

Tom Welling (from Smallville): Excellent choice for a young Colonial Warrior (just don’t kill his character off like they did with Rick Springfield’s Zack character). Might be very good as a Starbuck-type girl-chasing, commitment fearing guy (kinda like me, only I managed to catch & got suckered into marrying one).

Brad Pitt: Again could be expensive but then again, what has he done lately to maintain a lofty star status. Could be a good opportunity to get himself back into the limelight

OK Ladies & Gents, have at it with your suggestions.

Also, help me out with some actors from BSG-Mini that you'd like to see here. Edward James Olmos would be one I'd like to see.

Sean Connery on the Council, maybe as the second most senior behind Charlton Heston.

I can think of more actors I wouldn't want to see in it than what I would:

Mike Myers, the guy who played Ace Ventura whose names escapes me, Sylvester Stallone, and Tom Cruise, to name a few. (Stallone and Cruise because I don't think they would do very well in a sci-fi film and the other two I just can't stand.)

How about Adam Baldwin? He already has experience playing a hotshot pilot with an eye for the ladies and I would love to see him on TV again.

Default Now we're cooking

Some good ideas I'm seeing. Especially having Sean Connery on the Council.

Add to my list:

Scott Bakula: Already has plenty of Sci-Fi stardom to his credit, and he does bear some resemblence to Dirk Benedict.

OK, a shameless bump here but one poster was apparently looking for the Actors thread as he posted in the Ladies thread.

Anyone here see a possible role for Leonard Nimoy?? Or would that be too "Trekkish"?

Opinions??

Please no Scott Backula. I was disappointed with his enterprise role although it has improved a little...His first officer whose name I don't know(the blone guy) would be good...What about Bruce Boxlightner or James Spader(Stargate)???

I'm sick of looking at Connery- he sleepwalked through "Gentlemen".

Same with a lot of actors, good or not- overexposure. I'd want to see the neglected talent who haven't had a chance by no being the 'big names'.

A good name of an excellent performer who would be a fantastic warrior/officer- Rob Lowe. From what I hear, Duchovny is looking to get back on film again. Younger warrors... Jet Li as a Lt. and Zachary Ansley (Billy Miles, X files) as a Captin.

Council members/commanders? Well, for brlliantly disruptive, I'd go for John LaRoquette any day. A good leader would be Judson Scott

Duchovny is a great actor ........but he has the 'ego' to match. I think
based on the numerous articles I read about him in TV Guide and a
number of magazines; I'd prefer someone who was more of a team member.

If memory serves he complained as much about Xfiles as Pernell Roberts
did about Bonanza. If he does act again ........I can only hope he has
'grown' more in the maturity department.

Oh I think Duchovny would make a great cast member as the in house gripester, you know the fellow who is always complaining about something. Like: The mushies are too warm, too cold, some one left them out to long (they have a bit of skin on them now). Who turned down the heat, “why is it so warm in here?”, “someone left crumbs on my chair.” You see, a perfect roll for him.
