Galactica "Remake"
Sorry no news on an actual remake but now that I have your attention...
In another forum (not important which one) they have a thread which discussion who the like to be cast as Cain for the mini. Pretty interesting and sometime funny.
I remembered reading how some fan did not like the mini but would have favored a "remake", even if it meant a different cast. Let just say that none of the original cast could do the remake but gave their blessing to have it done anyway. Who would you cast (money being no object but they would need to be currently living)? It should also still true to the original characters (color, race, gender, etc.)
Baltar: Christopher Walkens
Cmdr Adama: Michael Caine or Malchom McDowell
Apollo:
Starbuck: Orland Bloom
Boomer: Denzel Washington (but also thinking of Samual L. Jackson)
Athena:
Cassie: Bridget Fonda
Boxy: Gavin Fink (played in Prancer Returns, XFiles).
If you are like me, puting name with faces can be challenging. I use the internet movie database ( www.imdb.com) so when you mention a name that is not so well know, just let us know what movie or tv series they were in to help us visualize the person.
So you there you go. Have fun.

Bridget Fonda as Cassie is intriguing. I'd probably go with Paris Hilton. Oh yeah, she can't act. Never mind.
Chi McBride (Boston Public) as Colonel Tigh.
How about Russ and Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia) as Cain and Sheba?
Actually, if they were to remake the original, they'd probably go with no-name
look-alike actors, like they do in TV movies about various celebrities.

I'm really racking my brain thinking of actors this early in the AM...
Baltar: Richard Dean Anderson (very versatile actor, versed in Sci Fi roles)
Cmdr Adama: Tom Selleck, Bill Murray (Hey, don't laugh)
Col. Tigh: Samuel L. Jackson
Apollo: Freddy Prinze, Jr. (He did a good job in Wing Commander)
Starbuck: Sean William Scott (OK, a pop- Gen X actor, but would fit the part)
Boomer: ???
Athena: Jennifer Garner (Electra from Daredevil)
Casseopia: Tara Reid
Boxey: Daniel (?) Lipschitz (The kid from Jerry MaGuire)
My $.02...

GunnerK19. Pretty good with Bill Murry. I saw him in Last in Translation. He was excellent. So believeable, you really hope thats not his real life.
Jonathan Lipnicki (Jerry McGuire) would believe he going to 15 years old this year. I just realized my pick for Boxy would now be the same age as well. Well, it a small part...give it to an unknown.
Viper Tech: Chi McBride certainly would have a commanding presence but can he fit into a standard military uniform? Yes, I could see him playing character well.
Ok, I could go for Amber Tamblyn but her father is 70 years old.
McGuyver...bad? Noooo. Maybe his evil twin, who uses his genius for his own purpose.

Sean william is pretty interesting as starbuck, but he plays more of a goon role where as starbuck was just cheeky as hell and smooth with it.

What is it about race and gender?
Why is it that in every one of these “who should play…” threads everyone is hung up on the gender and race of the original? I mean, does Tigh HAVE to be played by a black man in his late 40’s? Does he also HAVE to have grey around his temples? Must Adama be portrayed by a Caucasian who has a background riding horses? Is Apollo required to be a dark-haired male while Starbuck must be a blond male?
This would probably be a big stretch for a lot of people but the actor that I think would be best to play Starbuck based on Starbuck’s character rather than Dirk Benedict’s appearance is Will Smith. As far as I’m concerned, he’s already played characters with Starbuck’s flamboyance to a tee.

Your right boomer, i think will smith would be an excellent choice... i was trying to think of someone with his comic skills, its kind of the same roll as he played in that wild west thing isnt it? But i dont think mixing genders works particularly well. Bring new people in maybe but when people have watched the show for so long they are pretty much always going to be against it.

Thinking now, I rescind casting Anderson as Baltar; I'm thinking more along the lines of Kevin Spacey or possibly even Gary Sinise could probably do well ?

Don't get me wrong I think Mark Hamill's a good actor ..........but not
insidious enough. I think that Christopher Walkin or Malcom Macdowell
would be better choices for the part of Baltar.
I think however for the part of Starbuck Robert Leshock would be a
good choice. He's a great actor and has the looks to match.

Malcolm McDowell would be excellent as the evil genius...i mean he is British and we always get cast as the evil people who end up dying...or lunatics at least...but the main point is we die.

I could definitely see Will Smith as Starbuck, but Amber T. as Cassiopea? I watched her grow up on GENERAL HOSPITAL years back and she's still just a kid!

Actually, JL, I was going for Amber as Sheba because she cries all the time on JOAN OF ARCADIA and Sheba is a weepy character, too.
How about Owen Wilson as Starbuck.
