Real space combat
It's finally nice to see spaceships "behave" like spaceships. The whole banking when making a turn really bugged me in TOS. Then again, they didn't have the budget to do anything fancy, and we weren't so jaded back then to notice. I really liked the attention to detail with the attitude jets showing up. The Mark IIs looked awesome, even if they were 30 years old. I liked that they showed the modern vipers too, you could see the progression of the "evolution" of the fighter.
