Marching on Scifi
I saw this on the Callisto board on the scifi.com board...I think its worth taking a MAJOR look at and seeing what we can do to join!!!
"I now lead the Flagship of a relatively large group know as Alpha Fleet. It’s composed of more than a dozen on-line BSG revival groups and 16 Starfleet groups. (Yes it seems the “Treckies” are a lil pissed and Ron and the gang too). And currently we have 124,000+ non-affiliated members as well. Needless to say the organization and logistics for a group this size takes up most of the time of both myself and my senior staff. Thousands of man-hours have been spent in the effort to block this upcoming atrocity that is set to air on SCIFI December 8th. But as I have said before...the TRUE fans will fight right up till the end. Give ‘em hell every step of the way. I wanted the Callisto to be the flagship of Alpha Fleet, to set the example of TRUE BSG TRADITION and let everyone know that BSG fans will fight against the odds and that one way or another we will be heard. But rather to hang in when things get rough...the leadership of the Callisto gave up.
So following in the truest of BSG tradition....my lil rag-tag fleet intends to keep fighting against the odds until we are totally defeated or until we manage a victory. I only wish the Callisto had joined this effort in the beginning. I should remind you the “New Series” is in fact not a series....it’s just a lil 4 hour mini series...so even if they do air this mess...there is still a chance to change things over time. I like to think of the SCIFI mess as another BSG 1980 type blunder.
Plans are in the works to have a protest March on the SCIFI Channels cooperate offices on Dec.6 just two days before the airing of the atrocity. At this point we expect about 53,000 of our people to show up. If you would like to participate in the march or join Alpha Fleet, just e-mail me for the details. "
The email address is Warroom@techemail.com
Like I said ... I think this is MAJOR and we would be fools not to join it!!!

I e-mailed the gentleman who supposedly posted the information at the top of this thread asking him to confirm the information, and this was the response I got:
Quote:
Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 23:15:16 -0800 (PST)
From: "Jim Boyd" <warroom@techemail.com> Add to Address Book
To: jjrakman@yahoo.com
Subject: confirmed.
jaeson jrakman,
The information that was contained in the e-mail you sent me is very
true. Alpha Fleet is a relatively new organization that has grown to a
following of well over 100,000 members worldwide. This information was
originally posted on the Sci-Fi Bboard for the benefit of the crew of the
Battlestar Callisto of witch I used to be a member. I have no idea how
it found it way over to Colonial Fleets but I’m glad it did....word
of this needs to get out buy any means we can.
The plans for the protest are being finalized and at this time it looks
like we can expect over half of our US membership to show. That well
over 40,000 people. At this time at least one of the original cast plans
to attend the protest, and as of tonight I have been informed that a
second is requesting information on the event. As soon as I have solid
confirmation from them this will be announced.
Thank you for your interest in Alpha Fleet operations in this matter.
We still need all the help we can get so anything you and your people
can do to further our cause, or if there is anything we can do to aid
you, please let me know.
Jim Boyd
Commander
Battlestar Kilmarnock
Flagship, Alpha Fleet

I personally don't believe in the existence of this Alpha Fleets, or in the reality of the supposed March. Aside from a few postings, there's nothing really to substantiate this as anything more than a false rumour. No web site. No Yahoo group even. I have e-mailed them several times at the e-mail address they provided in the post that Dark Jedi started copying their post from another board. I asked for the PDF file which supposedly contained a flyer promoting the march. I have recieved nothing, nor any response as to when I could expect to receive the PDF file.
I would suggest not to pay this Alpha Fleets any attention at all until such a time that they can prove their existence beyond a few posts on these boards.

to be honest guys... don't worry about this. If they are real, they don't need us. If not we are being set up to have egg on our face.
But either way. It just important to like the show. And help us create an environment where new fans can really get into talking about BG.

TrekLord loves you
I have most of the key posts from that unpleasant era listed in the below thread. Kristi's is in there somewhere though I don't feel like hunting in there for it.

My thoughts are that this is a hoax set up to get a few people (we'd be lucky if there were more than 100) to show up and make an appearance. It would really make us look like there are hardly any fans that really don't like the mini. I'm sorry, it just seems too much like a ploy set up by those who have been submarining us all along. Why is there no proof of the existence of this "Alpha Fleet" and what kind of arrogance to call it the "Alpha" Fleet. As far as I'm concerned, CF is the Alpha Fleet!
I'd love to see 50,000 people show up to protest, but lets face it folks, we couldn't get 1000 people to come to Galacticon2003 (which was still a stellar success in my humble opinion). So I just don't see those kind of numbers showing up. And I'm not being negative, just realistic. And I support protests so if there is any truth to be found in this let me know and I'll be there!

I'm not sure why Laroque brought that up in this thread. For my part, I wasn't talking about you Kristi, just about the bogus Alpha Fleets.

I know that the only stuff I ever posted over there on skiffy's board was when I was either being a cheerleader for the continuation or bashing the new show. To be honest this person has me a bit on the freaked out side... not sure I like this.

I pretty much gave up posting at Skiffy for the most part. Mainly because you have no idea if the person your talking to is real, or some clone. Plus, I just don't want to make it look like that board has any traffic.
Who's got you freaked out?

This Laroque person... This is not the only place they posted links to posts of mine. I am not sure how to take this after all that's happened lately...and I think you know what I mean JJrakman. Maybe just me being ultra cautious ?? eh.. I hate walking on egg shells.

I know exactly what you mean. Ahh, think of Laroque as a investigator. He's the writer of the Kobol archives and from what I understand used to own Kobol.com. He stepped out of fandom for a while, and when he came back he didn't know about all the Clone Wars. So he started investigating all the past posts on the Skiffy board to get some sense of history of all of this, and to figure out cvertain people's motivations. He's a good guy.

I don't think your walking on eggshells, and I don't think you did anything bad. All you did was voice your opinion of the time. who can fault you for that? Hell, you should have been in my shoes a few months ago. Now THAT was walking on eggshells.
