BSG Last Stand
I wont quote anyone directly but I seen a view posts mostly on the Skiffy board theorising that if this mini fails that will be all for BSG. Some of them point out that if this mini fails BSG may be seen as a lost cause and not worth further investment. I dont know how much truth there is to these types of statements so I'd like to hear what all of you have to say about this notion.

In my opinion - rubbish. We're talking about Hollywood, where the left-hand does not know there is a right-hand. And the right hand thinks the left belongs to someone else.

Welcome Rickyrod70
I think there is too big of a TOS following for the success or failure of the mini to end everything. The followers who love this show are many, and the mini just isn't BSG to most of us anyway.
Cheers,

Rickyrod,
I appreciate your questions. The last one, about the potential storylines for the mini, should it go to series, was also a good one. I'm sorry you didn't get the answers you were looking for, it's just that many folks here, myself included, don't have any use for the mini, whatsoever.
Now, with regards to this question -- I was previously concerned that the outcome for the mini might "poison the waters" for any future endeavor -- i.e., feature film but, lately I've begun to rethink that particular notion.
The reason is that the mini is scheduled to air on Sci-Fi which is basically a 'niche' network. It's only available to people who subscribe to cable or satellite service and then, only if they subscribe to the "Expanded Cable package". Whereas the "Big 4" networks -- ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX -- are available to everyone. Even Sci-Fi's best shows, in terms of ratings, don't compare 1:1 with their counterparts on one of the Big 4 networks (sorry, UPN and WB just aren't there yet). Now, if the mini were airing on one of the big networks, .............then, I'd be concerned.
Thanks,
BST

This whole mini is DESIGNED to poison the possibility of a REAL BSG film. If it succeeds, Moore is on a gravy train. if not, the real thing is dead, so they hope. All courtey of those who hate the true BSG.

My opinion? Yet another blatant manipulation. Back when the now infamous "continuation or prequel" poll came out, the line was that if we didn't support the prequel, we'd never see a continuation.
Now the line is that if the mini fails (becuase we don't watch, it will be all our fault, oh my) there will never be a continuation/ no hope for BSG.
Same rationale, different trick.

Hi rickyrod. I've seen some of your post over at skiffy, hope you like it here as well.
It could go both ways, fail or do good. I think if the mini fails or doesn't do well in ratings we will be just fine.
TPTB will see the direction Moore took wasn't the correct path to get viewers, and may be more open to suggestions from thoes who love TOS.We surrived Galactica 80, this too will pass.
I also agree with BST, Scifi is not as powerful as the "big 4" ABC, CBS ect... The attention that the mini does generate will not be as noted as if it were on one of thoes stations.
