Sheba: A Role Model
A snippet from an Anne (Sheba) Lockhart interview from TV Zone Special #35.
The actress clearly cherishes her association with the saga and is particularly proud of its positive affect on viewers.
“I have met people in cities all over the country and the world who were influenced by Sheba,” she declares. “I had a woman come up to me and tell me that she decided to learn to fly a plane because of Sheba. And the woman had become a commercial airline pilot!
“It’s wonderful to have done something that has influenced people’s lives 20 years down the road.”
Have you been influenced in a positive way by the original Battlestar Galactica? If so please e-mail me.
Regards,
Peter

Sheba was one of the best female characters on the show. The thought of her being killed off in season 2 is beyond comprehension. They were going to make the Athena character the new strong female character. This was after giving her plastic surgery and having recast the role.

Paul's thumbs down is exactly right. DeSanto's interpretation of having had Sheba rejoin the Pegasus at some point would have been much story than just killing off one of the potentially richest characters on the show.

I always thought Anne was great as Sheba, and I loved the role. Finally a strong female presence in a primetime sci-fi show. Once again, the depth of her interaction with Apollo was so much more intriguing and inviting than the shallowness that Hollywood wants to throw at us now.
She wasn't a stoic amazon or a flighty femme, she was a warrior and still every bit a woman. And she played the part like a pro.

A Sheba Moment
My fav is from Hand of God.
Adama:We haven't tangled with a basestar since we left our home galaxy.
Sheba looks at him and replies.
Sheba:My father did.
The look on Adama's face said it all.

Its too bad that they had planned that I liked Sheba. She and Athena made the show for me. Sheba inspired me to find the two things I was missing in my life, someone to love and I am also thinking of returning to school. This was also inspired by her.
