First of all let me say that I am a fan of the original Galactica. and that I favor a continuation of the original series. And I would like to give my two cubits worth.
I've been coming to this b/b for almost 4 years now posting occasionally usually under this nick or plant vapor. I have seen many things in that time. But I believe that the current debate about the horror about RDM's vision of Galactica has got to be the biggest flame war I have ever witnessed. And for all its worth its also the biggest piece of Feldercarb out there.
Moore's Galactica is all wrong. Even a casual fan off the street knows it. How can they say that this version is going to blow the doors off the original. I sincerely doubt it.
What this country needs is straight forward hero's, Not a bunch of over sexed teenagers. We need heroes like the ones now giving their lives for this country. The ones who would give their lives for their cause. We need heroes who respect authority figures. Who respect their familles. We don't need Jerry Springer in space. This type of hero is not in this nightmare.
We need clear cut villains ones we know who are deep down nasty. The ones we love to hate. We need villains like Kahn, Darth Vador, and even the old baltar. We need villains to lose every week, but do it with style and grace. That kind of villain is not present in this horror show.
We need intriguing story lines. Something that hasn't been done to death. We need exciting space battles explosions and colorful language like Feldercarb, Frack and turbo flush. We need different times and measurements like centon, yarhen, etc., etc. None of this is present in this nightmare.
I could go on and on about this nightmare that is RDM's Galactica. But I will tell you this, especially to the powers that be. Don't bite the hand that feeds ya. Listen and weight the facts carefully. Do independent research. And listen to you hearts. Please let this nightmare end. Do what's right. This show if done right will surpass star trek, star wars by leaps and bounds. If done wrong it will become another cop rock.
