Then let's push for a mini-series
It's obvious to me by now that the idea of using new characters is not because this is going to be a one-time deal, Ron wants to re-start the series.
Well, how about this. Ron can do a series with new BSG and we push for a mini-series with our original actors.
Star Trek did it. Heck, they had the TOS people doing the movies and TNG doing television.
Why can't we? What do you guys think?

A feature film instead
I think Ojai had a good idea to push for a feature film.
A good 3to4 movie ark to tie up the original series and set the stage for a whole new generation.
Features are what got the momentum going to bring back Trek in TNG

OJAI22 was right, we need a feature film or several to tie it all together.

Right.
Feature films to tie up the series.
Say over the course of 3 or so movies the fleet finds earth has an epic showdown with the cylons in earth orbit and everyonelives happy ever after.
Enough hype is generated from that to begin work on a new series set a hundred or so years later with an all new cast & all new situations.
They could even a "Dee Kelly" style camio with an aged Commander Apollo seeing the new Galactca off on her maiden voyage.

I thought that Larson only had rights to make movies about Pegasus?

Not one I can clarify, I am remembering a statement from the Larsons, post-settlement that didn't mention which parts of the property the to which their feature film rights applied.
