Stargate Dumb executives try to justify their jobs!

Seems, dumb exec making dumb judgement calls on beloved projects is all too common a practice in old Hollywood why? Well here is one reason why, check out this link from "The Minnesota Daily" inwhich Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob) shares his own opinions on what the executives would think and do regarding a sequel like Daredevil 2!

It has to be read

www.mndaily.com/new_site/article.php?id=5332

Is there any doubt now why this remake is doomed from day one. Egos, screw jobs, ignorance of the potential the property has etc. No wonder this has all the elements of failure written on it. Ron D Moore, Bonnie Hammer, room full of kiss asses PTB exec suits.

What more proof of this ain't gonna work do we need?

KJ

P.S. Lets just remember another superhero franchise in development hell "Superman lives" which Kevin Smith himself, tried to get out of limbo! Facts just keep mounting against us fans getting what we want to see don't they.

Is it really suprising?
As far as Hero movies go anyway there has not been one except Blade that lived up to fan expectatiopns.
Even X-Men as well as it was presented was not accepted by the hardcore base of Comic book fandom.
they had complaints like
"wolverine isnt short enough" "Where are the costumes" "they got the ages of the characters wrong"

The decision-making process in Hollywood obviously lacks reason, good taste and common sense. It seems to me that most films and TV shows are being cranked out like sausages with very little thought going into them. Tremors: The Series? Are they serious? What dangling story lines did I miss from the movies?

Sadly, its no longer a question of presenting a great product, its a question of what project will get financial backing.

Default If you really want to hear an insane exec story ...

... pick up the "An Evening WIth Kevin Smith" DVD, which is a document of his college campus speaking tour. In it, he relates his experience with former hairdresser-turned producer Jon Peters ("Batman") while trying to write the "Superman Lives" screenplay. Peters (who does not actually READ scripts) wanted Smith to eliminate Supes' famous uniform, NEVER have him fly, make the evil robot Brainiac a "funny gay" character (inspired by Hooper X from "Chasing Amy"; how a robot can be "gay" is beyond me), include some marketable "Chewbacca" type character (the "Star Wars" special editions were out and doing huge business at the time) and have Supes fight a giant spider at the end (because Peters had been impressed by nature special about spiders).

Needless to say, the project went nowhere ... later, when Smith went to the theater to see the Peters-produced "Wild Wild West" movie, he found the climactic gimmick quite familiar: "I'll be damned, he finally got his giant spider!"

I saw him relate this story when I went to the San Diego Comic Con and it brought down the house ... it alone is worth the price of the DVD.

Kevin Smith is one of the coolest fanboys around.
He is one of the people i'd have chosen to helm a Galactica remake.
He would have known how to please fans of the original and bring new fans.

Agreed, Smith is definitely one of the good guys. I wonder what he thinks of Galactica?

Default Kevin Smith on BG !

Kevin Smith! Hell if i lived in the U.S. i'd vote him president no joke. Major fan of his films. If he loved Star Wars he be a fan somewhat of BG so yeah i wouldn't mind him being on it.

But like i said, very remote chance of this happening in favor of fans like us.

Default You're right about Blade

Since "Blade" hit back in 1998, marvels been on a roll. The've already got one down this year with Daredevil! Now X2 and Hulk are months away, can't wait.

LXG A.K.A. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is also a comic book movie of great repute Alan Moore's second adaptation (see From Hell) is also something to look forward to. As is Matrix Reloaded, Timeline, Terminator 3 and Underworld which aren't from comic books but movies i've got on my to watch list this year
