Default It's their show now

If recent news is in fact true and the planned remake is going forward, the Moore supporters can have it. I won't have any part of it and I hope the rest of you (fans of TOS) don't contribute to the fan base, merchandise, etc. However, I don't believe that the mini will be very well received and that it will not generate the interest to be considered as a series. I think the RDM take on Galactica is boring, ill-conceived and tasteless, not to mention a few more adjectives.

I truly believe that Moore convinced TPTB that he would deliver a high percentage of the ST fans with his highly Trek-influenced Galactica story. Whether or not he succeeds will remain to be seen but not seen by me.

I will watch the remake if only to see how badly the series has butched by Moore. How they can go through with this horrible remake is beyond me. Oh well.

Default I will not support...

I was hoping for a quality production that would build upon the existing universe. I was looking forward to all the marketing that would follow, with money ready to spend. I was ready to spend $200+ for a Playstation just to get the game.

Now, they will get none of my money. I will not play a game of a young William "Husker" Adama.

I will not buy the #6 action figure even if it has the "action hand grip"

This can still turn around if Universal would wake up. Is it worth such a gamble to completely eliminate a big slice of the audience? Universal is already suffering, and to launch a series that already has a fan backlash does not make much sense to me.

Me neither. Its like a slap in the face of all those who kept the series alive for 25 years.

Will the Galactica be going where no man has gone before and making contact with new alien civilizations? Exploring the furthest reaches of space?

Or will it be locked in a life or death struggle against a seemingly unbeatable robot army…

If it is the former then you would be right and it would be very much like Trek if it is the latter then i think you might be wrong.

Or if Adama attempts to negotiate with the cylons or if people dont move any faster than a brisq walk even in an emergency situation, or If the galactica's engineers never find there way to engineering.
If there are aliens with what looks like booties on there foreheads then mebby just mebby i'd agree that it might be trek influnced.

Default Hito

At this point I wouldn't count on anything resembling "our" Galactica.

As much as it might kill the franchise, I so badly want Mr. Moore's production to fail miserably.

Then we could try to convince Universal to consider a continuation.:cowboy:

Default The only one doing the convincing

Appears to be Ron Moore and company. If Universal does not get it by now they never will. They will be sorry when the remake is rejected by the public.

It hurts me to see that "one of ours" will be doing the CG for Mr. Moore's twisted version of Galactica. I'll be tempted to look but I wont.

Stay the course people, believe in Galactica.

Again don't fall into all the rumors that are around the net, because that is all they are.

Keep the faith.

But when the Kiddies at the Moore Fan Board finally experience what we've been experiencing all these years, I think I will enjoy the crying and whining of of them even more...

Default They may be rumors

But I tend to trust Michael and his recent posts have got me concerned. I expect that we may not hear from him for a while which is probably not such a bad route for him to take for the time being. In the mean time, we are subjected to the gloating of the likes of Raoul Duke and company.

Don't let them get your goat. Wait for the dust to settle. Then we'll at least know who the players are. I have a feeling that the friends of BSG are still going to be around Universal beyond VUE's eventual sale.

Default Jewels and the3rdhuman are correct

I agree with The3rdhuman it's nuts this is going to happen to Battlestar Galactica. Hollywood has an ego problem that kills creative ideas and creativty in general? Ask anyone anyone on the streets who remembers about the show, and they would want the new series to have as much of the old mixed with the new and brought back with half of the originals to maintain continuity.

This crap ain't Galactica and it's a pity people will buy this Remake everything B.S. for all TV and movie productions these days. Galactica would work if you respect the source material of the series and did a decent job. Hell all of us could revive Galactica better than the PTB execs if we had the money, studio, resources, SFX company and good management!

Arrogance is everyones downfall, only Universal's out to sabotage BG from day one. 25 years of no Galactica tells me someone got alot of explaining to do and one day hopefully we will get it.

KJ

Peace

Default Even tho

I liked the story presented in the Moores script.
I honestly do not forsee it finishing production.
Even if it were to get the backing of a fanbase as large as people seem to think is behind moore there is too much negative history attached with the name Galactica.
Universal will likly shelve it till such a time as they feel thay can revive it in whichever form they see fit.

Default It just kills me that the Galactica name has to be used

For Moore's production. This shows me that Universal believes that Galactica still has temendous potential after all of these years. But to pi$$ it away on a half-a$$ed production BOGGLES MY MIND!!!

WHY?

The funny thing is that if what I'm reading is right, them Moore is basically promising to replace us "continuation" viewers with Star Trek viewers. Which is funny because these days Star Trek viewers are not even watching Star Trek anymore.

I keep harping on this, but Hollywood has forgotten how to do (good) Sci Fi. They don't want to spend the $$$ that is needed for good Sci Fi (ex.: humanoid Cylons instead of robotic Cylons, etc.).

Default Hito, that would be logical

Cancellation of the production would make the most sense and probably be most beneficial to the fans. It seems as if there may be race going on to gain control but no apparent progress. If someone were to be given the green light this late in the game (with VU sale on horizon) the production would likely have to be rushed before crushed.

From what I've seen, there's no indication that the video game has anything to do with the new miniseries ... it deals with "Cadet" Adama's adventures as a Viper pilot 40 years before the destruction of the Colonies. The Viper and Raider designs have been modified to reflect this, but the Gelactica design seems exactly the same:

This is our show.

Battlestar Galactica means something to a lot of people.

It's about faith, hope, honor and courage.

There are people, Real fans of Galactica, behind the scenes fighting for us, fighting for our show!

We need to encourage them and let them know that we care.

I'm with Titon on this one, lets keep the faith!

Default Regarding the video game

It was in development well before Moore's script was finish. The video game is paying homage to the original series, not the mini-series.

Default I think I am right

I may not be scifiman76 who actually talks to the Vivendi rep but the screenshots look like something from our Galactica. I don't think RDM's Cylons had Basestars 40 years ago but I could be wrong.

Hi fellas, Apothis if you have seen these screen shots of the video game for PS2 this year. Can you save and place these pics here? Any info or something Galactica based would be of use to discuss now?

I don't have screenshots yet... The only ones even posted on the net are the ones on Milton's site. Those screenshots are the sales sheets that game companies use to promote products for distributors. Those are very insider type stuff in the game world given to sales reps. Vince Debernardi a.k.a. scifiman76 is actually my sales rep at Ingram Entertainment so I know him quite well. He works out of their Indianapolis office and he just sent me an advance screeners version of "Children of Dune" on DVD. So I am bugging him for the BSG screeners version as well. Studios such as Sci Fi Channel usually send out screener versions to their distributors as samples. BSG screener will probably be availabel a week before the actual airing since the other one's I have received from him are always a week ahead.
