I have come to a conclusion...
Galactica 1980 is more Galactica than what Mr. Moore is going to make.
BSG is dead on TV and in the cinemas, and much like my older friends who can't stand anything past the 23rd Century in Star Trek (Original Series and the 1st 4 movies) I to have nothing left but memories to carry me through.
That's cool. Time marches on and I accept that. I have worked as an actor and stunt man for the past 15 years and I know how the biz works. Money, money, money.
In my own version of protest I will simply treat this new show like Enterprise. I'll watch it, if I like it, I will watch more. If not, I won't. But it won't be BSG, never no how.
One last part of the protest requires help from one of you all
Does anyone have a shot of Kent McCord in his Colonial Warrior gear that I could use as an Avatar? Or even one of his partner?
Thanks in advance.
Just shows what I get for having faith that Mr. Moore really did "get it".

None of us thought anyone was capable of missing it that far. IMO.

Jewels.
I know, it seems a bit crazy doesn't it. But dag nabbit! They go to far! I mean how can they claim to be in the spirit of BSG and then get rid of the Battlestars, the Viper, make Starbuck a chick (and Boomer too?) and all the rest of it?
It isn't right.
No I know for a fact there is nothing we can do, we are a small voice in a sea of dollars and cents, but I'll be damned if I just sit back and say "Fine, fine, this is BSG now."
Hell no.
Galactica 1980 was more BSG than this feldercarb will be!
Long live Troy and Dillon! Though maybe Mr. Morre will do a time travel episode where they show up sans-penis as well... grrrr.

I will hold out hope that BG:Redo will renew interest in the classic BG. While I doubt we will get a series out of BG:Redo, maybe we will get a "remastered" DVD of the originals. I would love to see some lost footage turn up on DVDs.

I don't suppose they'd be willing to lease the rights to make one (1) continuation movie with options to make two more.

I personally think BSG has what to takes to get it to the big screen....as long as Mr. Moore doesn't write it. I'm hoping that Richard Hatch will be able to get his up there some day. There are many people that will go see it out of curosity as well as love.

I could be completely wrong but wasn't Desanto given the greenlight and then the rugged pulled from under him when Moore pitched his idea?
In otherwords, Moore pitched re-imagining from the start because that was what he want to do. It just so happens Universal was not happy with Desanto's script so when Moore pitched his idea and the TPTB liked it, Desanto got the boot.
Anyways that is my interpretation of the events based on what I have read on the internet.

Thanks Warrior. The place I read that the DeSanto version was a bad script or something was from a filmjerk post on the Sci Fi Boards. Thanks for clarifying.

Poor Mr. Moore, being under Bonnie's thumb. I also was under the impression that it was his idea and Bonnie was agreeing with it..Thanks for the clear-up.

I just noticed that regular board member Peter Noble is already using Troy as an Avatar.
So I should change He was first after all.
Can anyone point the way to a good Dillion pic?

I don't see why you should change...unless it is a rule. They are different pictures......

try that google search for Galactica 1980 images that Michael posted, I thought there were a few there. Barry's OK but he's definately not on par with Starbuck. Not that he had much to work with (lesson 1 in How to Kill a TV Show: write characters badly).

Yes, I'm sticking up for Barry Van Dyke, I didn't think Dillon was a pale imitation of Starbuck, yes he wasn't as serious as Troy, but he wasn't a womaniser never had the chance to, in fact was a bit sheepish with women (Space Croppers), never saw him in a card game either.
Peter (once again admitting that G'80 is a guilty pleasure)

Well, I thought, and still think that Barry has a nice bit of hunkiness about him, but then I thought the same about his Dad. I don't remember the series well enough to tell you a single thing about the characters. They aren't featured in the one ep I have on tape.

Actually, that wasn't a G80 thing. A lot of the shows around that time (including BSG) had that formula. One blonde, one brunette, one the autoritive type, one the rule-breaking buddy type.
Trying to please all the gals, I guess.
