GINO - The Audio Production
Yes, I admit it. I broke down and did a GINO audio production. Sorry about the delay in The Exodus Series but GINO is active, and current, and where its at!!!
In fact, GINO-mania is so strong, I've already completed the first two episodes. The first story is based on a concept from Stallion Cornell. The second is my own mutilation.
I really hope that those who don't like GINO will at least give it a chance.
Episode 1:

Episode 2:

Special thanks to James and Diane.

I would be interested to know what inspired you to develop a GINO audio series ? (Especially after you closed allgalactica and have had many issues with the new show)

Episode 3 is already being scripted. I had it almost finished but then trashed all but the first six minutes of it because I didn't like where it was going. If these go on much further, I'm planning on enlisting some writing help because I currently only see my own concepts panning out for another 1-2 episodes. Unlike Exodus, which I prepare as a serious storytelling effort, these are more "Saturday Night Live" creations ... fast, pretty mindless, and hopefully fun.
Thankfully, Peter and Jewels gave me a good reality check on EP2, where I went a bit far with a couple of bits. What was released can only be called EP2-Lite. Its good to have friends drag you back before you embarass yourself too badly.
Foremost of all, I can't praise Diane Rinella enough. The girl is wonderful to work with. Honestly, she's a real joy. She accepts the task happily, takes it seriously, and doesn't whine a bit ... and she's amazingly talented. Hearing the cut, I know that EP1 doesn't really flaunt her stuff because she's mirroring Lucy Lawless' delivery with her own. When you hear her natural voice, the girl doesn't sound like Lawless at all but she did a fine Lawless rendition IMO. Dy's parody of Lawless isn't a good example of her real talent ... or more accurately, it is but only if you know what to look for. I hope you guys will be enjoying a lot more of her in the future. (I know I've put efforts into trying to ensure that you will). She's a voice I really think most her will soon grow to love.
... and hopefully there will be more along the way as well.

Wow Sandy! Thank you! This is very humbling and truly means a lot. I am having a blast working with you and can't wait to do more. These are fabulous, not to mention huge, projects. I have no idea how you are keeping up!
I can't wait to listen. Downloading now!

Its an open field. If someone else wants to do an audio parody of the original, the TOaSter fanbase, or whatever inspires them, I don't have any problem with that. If its seems like they put a serious effort into it and it has merit, I'd host it on FanAudio.com, just as I would a serious audio drama based on any television series ( ... insert usual disclaimers that prevent someone like Lang from ranting on for 30 minutes and expecting it to be hosted somewhere).
Parodies and other "sound art" like this take the flaws of anything and amplify them 200 times. There's certainly enough material all around that if someone wanted to, they could have a field day with us. Take Dirk's Battlestar Funtopia video. He did well laughing at himself as much as any other element. When I heard "I don't believe you as a space bear" I almost fell out of my chair laughing. If I were inspired, I could probably do another series on the original series fanbase that would well be worth at least a trilogy -- but I'm not inspired. My focus is Conan, Exodus, the pirates, and (possibly) a Galactica prequel series.
Of these, Exodus is by far the most complicated and most involved, which is also why its taken so damn long to bring it all together.
The GINO parodies are meant in fun (mostly) with some harsh jabs here and there but nothing dripping with venom. I can take that coming at me as well as I can dish it out so to anyone who wants to try, alll I can say is "Bring it on!"
Sandy
