Maddog is right on all those counts. But I liked it mainly because I was expecting a big turd, and it wasnt that at all. But storywise you are correct, not much there, very predictable and cliche.

With that said, I also went to see starship troopers at theater 5 times, I never thought it was any sort of masterpiece, but it was a really fun movie at the time.
