Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica 2003 mini-series suffered a "Full System Malfunction" at the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 19th. Nominated for three Emmy Awards, the Galactica 2003 reimagining was defeated three times and won not a single Emmy Award. 1) Single-camera picture editing for a miniseries, movie or a special. Winner: HBO's Something The Lord Made. Loser: Sci-Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica 2003 Remake - Night 1. 2) Sound editing for a miniseries, movie or a special. Winner: HBO's And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself. Loser: Sci-Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica 2003 Remake - Night 2. 3) Special visual effects for a miniseries, movie or a special. Winner: ABC's Dreamkeeper. Loser: Sci-Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica 2003 Remake - Night 1. For more information, be sure to check out the official Emmys.org web site.

How did the failure of the 2003 reimagining compare to the success of the Battlestar Galactica original series at the 1978-1979 31st Emmy Awards? The Battlestar Galactica original series won two out of three Emmy Awards. 1) Outstanding Art Direction - Series (Nominated Emmy Award). 2) Outstanding Costume Design - Series (Won Emmy Award). 3) Outstanding Individual Achievement - Creative Technical Crafts - Special Effects (Won Emmy Award).

Colonial Fan Force Magazine Ad Published!

October 01, 2004 by Webmaster

New report from Commander Taggart of ColonialFanForce.org on September 30th: "Yeppers! I just got back from the Vesuvius Post Office where a little package from Variety has been waiting for me. As I carried the package back to the house, I felt like I was a little kid again, having just received some plastic bauble from the Johnson C. Smith Company ordered from the back of a Fantastic Four comic book. I very carefully ripped away the large manila envelope covering, which had been torn in several places during its coast-to-coast journey. Fortunately, none of the magazines inside had been damaged. I began flipping through the pages of the magazine on top... past pages of articles and other full-page ads for television shows and movies. Finally, I arrived at page 19. And there it was. And it was beautiful." Congratulations to the Colonial Fan Force and Battlestar Galactica fans for making the magazine ad happen! This is only an excerpt of Commander Taggart's report, so be sure to check out the following link at the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums for the complete report.

Battlestar Galactica Titan Comic Book Delayed

October 01, 2004 by Webmaster

The classic Battlestar Galactica comic book from Titan Comics, Battlestar Galactica: Saga of a Star World, has been delayed to January 2005. Amazon.com describes the comic book as follows: "Before Star Trek: The Next Generation, Farscape and Stargate SG-1, there was 1980s cult TV series Battlestar Galactica: the smash-hit sci-fi show that rocked the spaceways with its legendary stories, memorable villains and awesome hair styles! This classic comic-strip adaptation tells the story of the very first episodes of the hit TV series. After a surprise attack by battle droids, the Cylons, the human race faces extinction. Now the last remaining warship, the Battlestar Galactica, leads a ragtag refugee fleet across a savage galaxy in a desperate search for that one glimmer of hope amongst the stars — the planet Earth!" Thanks to Kingfish for posting the report at the Battlestar Pacifica forum.

Battlestar Galactica TV DVD Awards

October 01, 2004 by Webmaster

New announcement from Hive4Media.com: "TV shows on DVD are the fastest-growing sector of the DVD market, and they are forever changing the way we watch TV. Here's your chance to vote on the best TV DVD releases of the past year! A panel of judges took a look at more than 150 entries submitted by the studios and independent suppliers, released between September 1, 2003, and August 31, 2004, and narrowed the choices down to three nominees in each of the 12 categories. Now we're asking you to help select the overall winner in each category! Simply click on one of the three nominees in each of the 12 categories and when you're done press 'submit.' A very important reminder: please base your decision not on the actual show, but on the DVD treatment-- special features, menus, ease of navigation, packaging, sound and picture, etc. The voting period is September 19 through October 2. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 19, during the Second Annual TV DVD Conference at the Century Plaza Hotel & Spa in Century City, California." Poll question #4 features Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series for Best 1970s Series, so be sure to visit and cast your vote. Thanks to JJRAKMAN for the report.
