In the new ‘Battlestar Galactica’ there are ideas ripped-off from:

1. Cylon humanoids based on replicants from Blade Runner.
2. Cylon consciousness is preserved when they die just like the Borg in Star Trek.
3. Interior of the Galactica is just like the interior of a modern-day aircraft carrier, right down to the phones manually operated bulkhead doors and uniforms.
4. Number Six appears to Baltar through a chip in his head just like the Scorpius neural clone in Farscape.
5. The Ragnar space station appears to be a wheel design like Space Station One in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
6. The new president is sworn in a scene that is reminiscent of President Johnson being sworn in after President Kennedy was assassinated. JMS did this in Babylon 5 season two.
7. Trekkian solutions to dramatic situations and technobabble!
8. No sound in space, technically accurate but on TV was done in Firefly.
9. Split screens in the style of 24.
10. First scene with Kara Thrace is exactly the same as the one in the movie Leviathan.

3. Starbuck as a man.
4. Boomer as a man.
5. Athena
6. Cassiopeia
7. Spectacular space battle sounds.
8. The original Battlestar design.
9. The impressive bridge and interior of the Galactica.
10. A human culture that is different from our own – seen in costume designs, sets etc.
11. Heroes that you can look up to.
12. Cylon centurions en masse.
13. A show all the family can watch.
14. An improvement in the show’s scientific aspects.
15. Extensive SFX sequences.
16. Alien lifeforms.
17. A consistent methodology to the naming of characters.
18. A continuation of the original storyline!
