Composition music composed and brought to life along with a huge Orchestra is still the benchmark for music in films and television general. Digital technology just makes things sound more crisp and clearer.
Synthesized music ain't my cup of tea but, different music works in different productions, depending on what kind of theme or backround it plays against. I hope any new Battlestar Galactica production uses Orchestrated music for the epic feel of a saga presented once again.
