Your favorite crossover...
I was going to post this in the thread about `bg running into Buck Rogers. But I thought I would be polite and stay out of that threads way.
;) If I could be a geek and do my favorite crossover....I would want the the Fleet to run into the SDF-1 Macross and see them kick some Cylon's butt! I would love to see Baltar's face after the SDF's main cannon takes a shot through the cylon's fleet! Also I think battloids could be fun against Raiders! :D:D:D |
Thre was a Quantum Leap/BSG fanfic i read once, where Sam Leaps into Apollo. I'm not big on crossovers, but, i thought it was pretty cool.

Here are a couple fun ones

I only like reasonable cross-overs, ala the two franchises have something in common, like themes.
Thus I'd like to see BG/SG-1 cross-over (but NOT with John Edwards!!!) :D |
The main story concept behind Star Trek: Voyager and BSG are so similiar they seem like a natural fit. They're both looking for earth.
And since the Borg aren't actually interested in conquest, so much as assimilating people in an effort to constantly improve, you have to wonder what they would make of the cylons. Are they the logical extention of the Borg, the last evolutionary step? Or, since there isn't any basic organic humanoid to implant, would Cylons actually be the one form of life impervious to Borg? A geek gots to know  |

I'm working on Battlestar Galactica: Serenity in my limited spare time. |
Well, I did a Fic where the Fleet finds a wormhole machine, and ends up in Federation Space, during the Captain Pike days. It's called Culture SHock.

I think it would be interesting a Star Trek crossover with BG. Sounds cool. Krystal:star: |
I've read a few BG/ST crossovers. I'll try to see if i can find a few, and post links.

Cool, Taranis.
I wouldn't mind reading it. |
Link?

"FARSCAPE: The Lost Warrior". A FarScape/BSG/SG-1 crossover!!!!
|
I only have this picture at the moment, the fanfic that i am working on is taking up most of my time and creative talents (such as they are). :) but its a crossover I like.
For the Galactica Fleets to find Earth, but in a condition were it would be difficult to survive on Earth its self, but it has the means to fight against the Cylons and the defeance grid around the planet can deflect the cylons. I would look at that story like this 1. can earth defend them 2. can the colonials help return earth to it old glory 3. is Earth the birth place of humanity or kobol? I prefare Earth myself. 4. will Adama and the fleet take to having machines running the planet. like theopliusueses or how ever you spell the name. 5. will Starbuck shot Twinki mistaking him for a cylon miget drone. 6. will starbuck fall for wilma deering (i did) thats only my take on that cross over. If you want to checkout my first real attempt at FANFIC checkout this thread. http://battlestargalactica-fleets.co...ead.php?t=9058 and any idea are welcome. |
I would love to see a BSG/Star Wars cross-over, see some X-Wings kicking some Cylons back to Cylon
|
BSG meets Space above and Beyond. That would be sweet, I love the real military to that show, even though some of the Characters left something to be desired. But, nonetheless, it was great sci-fi tv. Pair that with BSG and you have the meeting between Earth and the Colonials fighting off the bad guys from SAAB and the Cylons.
Also, I would like to see a show from the Cylon perspective "The funtime adventures of Unit C-379847437, IN SPACE!. |
Babylon 5
Battlestar Galactica meets Babylon 5 would also be cool!
I think the slightly less advanced Earth Force ships would contrast well with the Colonial Fleet. Just think of the big EAS Omega Class destroyers like the Agamemnon and the Agrippa, with they're rotating gravity sections along side the Galactica. Not to mention the Viper vs Starfury! BRG |
|
Check the library section for my personal favorite (at the risk of being immodest :) ) which is my crossover with the original Planet Of The Apes universe (25 yahrens after the series, the Galactica finds the Earth of the first POTA movie).

Battlestar Galactica and Lord of the Rings..lol..

SAAB. Great Concpet, Characters: ugh. What they needed in that show were sterotyped WWII movies Characters. Com'on, think about it! Heroic Fighter pilots battleing against the odds, as in "Battle of Britain" or "Midway". SAAB meeting "Galactica" would be a great story. :bg04:

I've got a few crossover stories going at the moment.

Some observations.
Damocles here, :salute:
I tend to NOT LIKE crossovers. First of all it leads to reconciling these problems; Characters. Take it how you will, when you mix Adama and Kirk(an example) you wind up with a high unbelievability factor. Witness the comments posted in the Adama and Kirk threads posted on this forum. Technology. Notice that the focus of the BSG community has always been the story, but there are those who go nutty over the my universe is better than your universe argument and produce reams of bad fiction(both from the science and the fiction viewpoint) to promote their bias. Vision. The original authors of these creations(and the fans of the same) have a right not to see their original vision cross pollinated with some outsider's imposed universe or viewpoint.(Need I state this in this Forum?) Here it is a question of RESPECT for the vision and the work that went into it. Taste. I am only speaking for myself and I intend no disrespect to anyone else's viewpoint. I like the the NBG. I like the OBG. The OBG has the advantage of characters and at least, until it jumped the shark with its GOIPZ episode the stories on the NBG which to be frank has been a cliche ride(albeit a VERY GOOD ONE! :D ). I would never mix those two shows. They are that different in vision, character, technology-you name it. These shows may share a common name and premise, and the ALLIGATOR(the Galactica) but they are as different as Star Trek and Lost in Space which were both inspired by Forbidden Planet. Second of all it tends to promote fruitless what-if discussions about the crossover that leads to hurt feelings when you give honest and valid opinions about the result of some "fan's" efforts. The pain inflicted isn't worth the grief caused to an ego on the other end of the criticism. Its that RESPECT thing again. Finally, speaking for myself only again and intending no disrespect to the totally valid viewpoints of others, I HATE Berman/Bragga Star Trek. It is an abomination to science fiction and any crossover involving it with decent science fiction is an insult to Roddenberry or to the creators of speculative fiction everywhere. :( Please don't ask me what I think of George Lucas' work. :/: |
I know when I write a crossover that I try to merge the two universes together in a way where they are both equal in technology (different technology from different shows can exist in the same universe). For me part of the fun of writing a crossover it the merging process and making it beleivable without losing either's strong points or weak points.
Having said that I usually don't read SW/ST crossovers as the writers tend to lean to one side or the other. That and I would not mix the original BSG with GINO as they have so little in common that it would be very hard to do. |
I agree that crossovers, if they are to ever be attempted, have to have a ring of plausibility to them and not seem like a simple "gimmick" of bringing two different universes together.
The only crossover I have ever done is with the original Planet Of The Apes movie (the results of which are in the library section), because to me at least, there is nothing too beyond the stretching of credibility to suggest that the Galactica encounters the Earth of the first movie and has to deal with the potential consequences. Nothing about the first movie can disrupt the Galactica universe as we have come to know it, and likewise nothing about the Galactica universe can disrupt our understanding of the basic POTA universe. OTOH, when you deal with crossovers that involve universes spread out over large regions of space like Trek and SW are, then IMO you weaken Galactica's view of the galaxy before them as a vast unknown. Like AJ, I also believe that anyone who attempts a crossover, has to know both properties inside out to allow for a seamless blending of universes and characters. That is why I would never attempt a crossover with another universe. |
