I finally saw the VARIETY ad!

Yeppers! I just got back from the Vesuvius Post Office where a little package from Variety has been waiting for me.

As I carried the package back to the house, I felt like I was a little kid again, having just received some plastic bauble from the Johnson C. Smith Company ordered from the back of a Fantastic Four comic book.

I very carfully ripped away the large manilla envelope covering, which had been torn in several places during its coast-to-coast journey. Fortunately, none of the magazines inside had been damaged.

I began flipping through the pages of the magazine on top... past pages of articles and other full-page ads for television shows and movies. Finally, I arrived at page 19.

And there it was. And it was beautiful.

David... Daily Variety is NOT printed on newsprint, but rather on a thin glossy magazine stock. Nowhere near as heavy as traditional magazine stock, but much less absorbent than newsprint. While the colors appears a trifle muted (I think that just comes from looking at it only on the computer screen for almost a year), they were still vibrant, and the ad just leaped out at you as you turned the page. It is impossible to miss.

Also, David, I'd class the quality of that ad right alongside the HBO and film studio ads that accompany it in that issue.

I tell you, I damn near wept. What a wonderful birthday present.

Folks, we've made a small "kerplunk" in the Hollywood puddle. Now lets keep those ripples spreading further with our letters and postcards.

Here are the links for the pre-written letters Dawg has crafted just for this campaign:

Download them. Print them. Mail them. Do it today.

If you'd prefer to write your own letter or postcard... Bravo. Here are the addresses:

Mr. Tom DeSanto

A lot of people have put up a lot of money to bring us this far. This is no time to rest. The Cinescape ad will be out soon, and hopefully we will be able to reach more of our Galactica brothers and sisters than ever before.

I beseech you. Keep the faith. Let's give it our all one more time.

'Cuz gosh darnit... that ad looks good!!!!

KEEP THE FAITH! THERE ARE THOSE WHO STILL BELIEVE!!!

Heres a trick you may want to try. I don't know if its still out. Variety I think is weekly right?

But when you see it on a newstand, pick it up, and set it back down with the page open to your work.

Its a neat feeling when someone pics up your work.

;)

Tom -

That's a cool idea, but the ad came out in Daily Variety, not Weekly Variety - I checked Weekly Variety when it came out just in case...

Firestar is on battlestargalactica.com and on the banshee squadron from time to time. I haven't seen her here.

I just noticed your post count, Shiningstar.

Wow.

I know the feeling you mention Thomas, I was in HMV a while ago when a browsed upon a CD that I had sourced the recording for, which was released by a friend. Knowing that wouldn't have existed for fans to enjoy without my efforts was hugely rewarding.

When one day, we look at a screen and see a BSG continuation, you'll be able to have that same feeling Commander Taggart. And it will be well deserved...
