I noticed the Iraqi team managed to survive alot of obstacles and beat a medal contender, Portugal, in soccer.
:D

BST August 13th, 2004 07:36 PM

I was watching some of the opening ceremonies and one of the broadcasters (Tom Brokaw ??) mentioned that an Australian plane airlifted the athletes out of Iraq, under secrecy, due to the violence taking place in Iraq. Talk about international cooperation!!

In the process he broke his world record by .15 of a second and shattered Tom Dolan's Olympic mark, set four years ago in Sydney, by more than three seconds.

i was disappointed in the men's basketball game. They should play their warm up team a little more. They have good talent that they are not using like former UConn player Emeka Okafor! glad to see that the US whipped the Aussie's in men's beach volleyball.

Go USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

amberstar August 16th, 2004 04:27 AM

I know BSG! We got our butt's kicked in Basketball

I couldn't believe what I was seeing!

bsg1fan1975 August 16th, 2004 12:38 PM

It was so bad for me to sit and watch at half time I got up and went to start dinner and do some other things. It made me sick!

Actually blood doping has been around for awhile I first heard of it when
a athelete from Siberia was stripped of his medals a few years back.

Everyone thought he was on drugs but they couldn't prove it until
just a few years ago.

bsg1fan1975 August 24th, 2004 11:46 AM

its so sad when atheletes have to resort to this kind of thing to be competetive

Update -- Medal Count (current)

Medal Count

Edit: updated post to reflect that the "Medal Count" is "Current". Funny, I didn't realize that when I posted this the first time!

:music: "Of all the things I've lost in my life, I miss my mind the most!" :music:

bsg1fan1975 August 25th, 2004 04:33 AM

Heard yesterday on the evening news that Athens had some tremors. it wasn't that bad and nothing was damaged!

as it stands right now the US has 73 total medals.

One of the female gymnasts is from Connecticut!

shiningstar August 25th, 2004 10:46 AM

Thanks for the update on the medal count
