Pegagus' escape stories

Here's a question I've been toying with... in the new series, we think all the new battlestars are destroyed. How can we explain the Pegasus 's escape and being able to track the Galactica ?

My vote:
She was on patrol somewhere in deep space with a destroyer escort (she's a carrier, after all) and Galactica runds right into her.

Well, they could stick with original story that the Pegasus went missing BEFORE the Cylons destroyed the colonies.

I think there actually are a lot of possibilities for an escape like that, because unlike the original series, we don`t actually get the complete destruction of all the fleet properly confirmed.

Therefore the new series leaves huge gaps open that can be exploited for such "escape stories".

An escape story would make the most scense, being lost for forty years is going to be hard to explain. One question would be how does Pegasus find the Galactica. If they can find the Big G ten so can the Cylons.
