Captain Picard is gay?
Oh my... I just saw the new promo for the next Frasier. Patrick Stewart is going to guest star as a man notoriously pursuing Frasier!!!!
OHMYGOD  |
hmmmm... anyone ever see picard in the horrible movie LifeForce?
|
I never liked Lifeforce,.....Too much nudity, and no drama. But I always thought Captain Picard was boring,...Errr I meant Gay. ;)
|
THey all got better as the series went on.
Oh great. Patrick Stewart playing a gay man. Well he is a stage actor so I guess they have to conform to the stereotype... |
Er...
He played a gay guy in some movie or other, can't remember which one....

La Cage Aux Follies, I believe- The Birdcage in english. He played a gay stepfather who had to along with his partner, act like regular parents to impress their son's prospective bride's family.

Michelle -
It wasn't "Birdcage", it was a quiet little independent film called "Jeffrey" with Steven Weber and Michael T. Weiss. The film was hilarious - I had to watch it just to see Patrick Stewart "flame up". Patrick was wonderful as usual - I'm sure he did it just to stretch himself as an actor. I did see the promo for "Frasier" and thought I was having deja vu, as it so remininded me of Patrick's performance in "Jeffrey". Later folks, Bryan ________ Marijuana pictures |
Patrick Stewart was great in Jeffrey! It was a good movie all around but when he doned that pink cape to go patrol the neighborhood... I need to see that movie again.
|
He's a great actor. I was appalled too when I heard he was
going to be a villian ...........on a movie starring Will Wheaton. But he was fantastic. And he'll be great in the new role too. |
That's right. Who was in Birdcage? I'll have to rent it again. (And Jeffrey.)
|
Wasn't that Robin Williams and Nathan Lane?
I am Dawg :warrior: |
I agree with Shiningstar...I don't like my Patrick as a villan. Playing a gay man only shows his amazing acting abilities...and yes Dawg.... It was Robin and Nathan.
Nathan just came out of the closet so to speak at the same time Ian McCellan did. I don't care if they are gay; their private life has no bearing, I love to watch them act and bring wonderful characters to life...and if anyone thinks Patrick is gay, someone better tell his wife Wendy and his four children....lol |
The original La Cage Aux Follies, subtitled, not dubbed, is much better than the Birdcage, IMHO.
:colwar: |
I have never seen the original, but I hear it is an experience....

oh god, i just watched the frasier show the other day and cpt. picard kissing frasier was just wrong. i have nothing against gay men, i have many friends that are. patrick steward is an outstanding actor, and he pulled it off well. it was just hard for a fan of cpt picard to watch him kissing a man.
and i had no idea that ian mccellan is gay. it does not change my respect of him. he is a great actor and i will continue to watch him in movies. nightscape |
I watched the episode of Frasier last night too. I thought it was hilarious! This was the second episode where someone mistook Frasier Crane for being gay. Somehow, the writing staff managed to keep the material fresh and there were some very well-written bits of dialogue in this episode. There was one scene where Martin Crane said in a sarcastic tone: " My oldest son is dating a gay man and my other son is jeealous, life just doesn't get any better than this...."
The scene where Patrick Stewart kissed Kelsey Grammer on the lips really knocked me out! It wasn't like a major liplock, just a peck on the lips - no big deal, we've seen much more heavy stuff on "Will & Grace". This does seem to be the "year of the gay" for TV this year... What with this episode of "Frasier", "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", "Boy Meets Boy" and a new ABC sitcom premiering tonight call "It's All Relative" where the parents of the female lead are both gay men (and ABC is owned by Disney!), it's just a gay ole time on TV these days... My best to all, Bryan ________ MARIJUANA STRAIN INDEX |
Flavor of the month, Bryan, flavor of the month.
In general, TV sucks. Can I say "sucks" here? I am Dawg :warrior: |
bryan, that was a great line from martin crane. i was dying when he said that.

AHHHHH!!!!
I FORGOT TO WATCH THIS!?!?!?! DUMB ADMIN ALERT! DUMB ADMIN! *thud* |
I 'deliberately' missed the episode. It's just not my 'thing'.
|
I watched and yes I too thought it was funny. I enjoy Frasier, after all I was a Cheers junkie for years.
Stewart is a great actor, but I'd rather watch him as Picard any day. |
Saw that frasier episode.
It was pretty funny. Stewart gave an excellent performance.
|
I gave up watching Frasier a couple years ago but had to watch that episode just to see Patrick Stewart, he was excellent as usual. He wasn't over-the-top like in Jeffrey, but real close.
|
Well, I missed it. I didn't know he was going to be on it.....I need to get out more...lol

I watched Lifeforce and liked the movie. True there was tons of nudity and some sex scenes. I was in blockbuster today and saw the dvd for sale. The dvd supposedly has fifteen more minutes of footage than was shown on american television. getting back to the topic of the thread, I watched Frasier and found the episode quite good. |
I think he also played a gay in the movie 'Jefferey' in which he played the title role. Then again Stewart isn't alone in as much as having the destinction of being on Star Trek and having portrayed a gay on film. Scott Bakula who plays Captain Archer in the new series Enterprise portrayed a gay man in the Movie 'American Beauty'.
As to picard being a boring Captain far from it. I would rather have Picard as Captain than Kirk anyday. I liked the diplomacy aspects of TNG and found it hilarious when Picard would gather his crew in the ready room when they had about 10 Borg Cubes pursueing them, and he would like say, 'Suggestions?' and Geordie would come up with, 'Perhaps we should hotwire the deflectors, and shunt the power through the warp coils and fire a concentrated burst through our deflector dish, or whatever." Then worf would pipe up, "Lets just kill them, they have no honor". Then Troi would come into the action, "I feel great pain, and dissatisfaction". And to cap it off, Riker would say, "Deanna, will you Marry me". And always one to have the final word, Data would say, "Interesting, during my years of observing the human speices, I have come to the conclusion that humans engage in marrage and pre marital sex, when there is an iminent danger of their very lives been wipes out by Borg Cubes which have been produced by Bandi Toys". And of course with all the danger of them being chased by the aforementioned psychotic Borg Cubes they would get paged from the Bridge, "Captain," The Ensign who has replaced Wesley Crusher would say. "the borg a gaining on us, we our currently cruising at warp 9 and our unable to outrun them, I think you better retake command of this vessel like right away sir. BTW can I check in with the hairdresser Mot, I need to look good for tonights Emmy Awards." and Picard would say, "Make it so and Engage, and Deanna please tell you mother to stop playing with my Twiglets." |
ROTFLMAO! You need to make that into a satire....
|
No that was just me improvising at 5am in the morning GMT lol. Am right though, am surprised the TNG crew lasted seven seasons, the amount of meetings they had while faces with imminent danger by Borg, Klingons and stuff like that lol. It's the wonder they did not get blown up while they were discussing what to do next.

Oh, didn't you hear? The Little Book of Interstellar Starship Etiquette (published 2306) has a lot to say about this...
"No starship captain will attack another starship captain whilst said captain is engaging in breifings with his seior staff. It is often very tempting to attack another captain while he is distracted weith the petty concerns of his crew and attempting to formulate a plan to counter any possible attcks you might make. Such a move, though a guarantee of supreme victory, is unsporting and, more to the point, unfair. Also, in allowing your opponent time to formulate his plan, you allow yourself to formulate a counter-plan, to which can then forumlate another counter-plan, ad infinitum, to the extent that any battle will be brilliantly executed and concise; a master effort of skill and tactics... but by virtue must take place approximately one year after the first encounter. On a related note, in order to make all starship battles fair and honest, all armed combat must take place on a per-turn basis, taking in to account relative weapon strength and ship manouverability. For example. In a combat between the grossly overpowered Galaxy Class starship and a kilngon B'Rell class ship, the Galaxy must fire one burst for every three by the B'Rell. This increases the chances of a fair outcome. In most cases, a battle will be decided by the drawing of lots, followed by a single token display of marksmanship, wherein each captain fires a single 'burst' of their most powerful weapon in the general direction of their opponent." I was bored... :P |
