Farewell to the likable "Big Guy" on WKRP

Gordon Jump who played the workless MayTag repairman and the "Big Guy" on WKRP has passed away. He died from pulmonary fibrosis which causes scarring in the lungs leading to heart or repiratory failure.

I always thought he was the most likable character on WKRP. Sure he wasn't the main character, nor did he have the same draw as Loni Anderson or even "Bailey". But he was the likable though kinda "slow" guy in charge but always a man of character and good heart.

A small bit of trivia- on Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, he was the auctioneer.

I can still remember the episode where he and Les plot the great Thanksgiving Turkey giveaway PR stunt. His character, Carlson, loads up a ton of turkeys and flies them over the crowd and drops them to their doom.

"God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

Thank you , Big Guy, for all your fine performances.

:)
