Site Propagating to New Web Hosting Server
 

Here's an update folks, it was just posted to the web site...

On Sunday July 27th, BattlestarGalacticaClub.com was transferred to a new web hosting server. This was due to a recent hardware failure that required our web host to upgrade our account to a new server. As with any site on the Internet, a transfer of web hosting servers will always take 24 to 72 hours to propagate worldwide. Therefore, our site will be propagating to the worldwide Internet servers from Monday July 28th to Wednesday July 30th. During this 24 to 72 hour period, the site web pages may be viewable, however some services will be offline, including: Battlestar Galactica Club Forums, Intergalactic Calendars, Newsletter Subscription List, Picture Viewer, and UniCom Poll. Full access to our site is expected to be available by Wednesday July 30th. We appreciate your patience, and look forward to providing you with even better services when the propagation is completed.

Please utilize the above domain to access the forums, since our sub-domain is not activated yet. Other than the sub-domain pointer, the forums are fully online and operational. All accounts, messages, topics, and replies were successfully imported and upgraded to the new server and the new version of the forums. There are a lot of new features, so have fun finding the Easter Eggs. There are also some navigational improvements and streamlining as well, such as the removal of all the banners that were at the bottom of the screen. This will improve the load times of the forums. I hope you enjoy the new version! It was a major upgrade and took a while to install, test, and configure the system, but it's up and running and has a lot of new updates. Also, our web server has many new features and improved performance and reliability, and our host is giving us three free months of hosting to help compensate for the hardware failure on the previous server. Enjoy the new forums, and write back should you have any questions.

Temporary Downtime

You may have noticed that the forums went offline around 4:30 PM on Tuesday July 6th. The reason why is that one of the tables in the database was 'locked'. It was the ibf_sessions table that stores the username of those that are currently logged into the forums. I haven't heard back from my web host yet, so I created a second copy of the database, without the ibf_sessions table. I then re-created that one table from scratch. All of the other 87 tables were fine and did not need to be re-created, including member accounts, messages, topics, replies, etc. I'm waiting to hear back from my web host as to how the table 'locked' itself in the first place. Until then, and if it should happen again, please reply via e-mail and I'll reset the ibf_sessions table in the database to restore access. I apologize for the inconvenience, and will find out from my web host why this occurred in the first place.
