Larson/DeSanto 2004
Larson still owns the movie rights to Galactica. IMHO DRAFT Larson/DeSanto!!! Enough said.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!
Ken |
I would suggest we begin ORGANIZING on how to achieve our goal.
|
Oh....
I never thought after the last few years that we would actually be talking about getting together WITH Glen LArson to try and bring back Galactica, but from the tiny bit I read about him not liking what they did to the show, who knows???
|
A movie would be a good thing
nt.
|
Come back to BSG Glen!
bring us the REAL ***Rag Tag Fleet**
|
This is definitely great news.
Krystal |
I would like to see a new better BG than the mini. This mini is very dissapointing!
|
Hey, Kingfish?
At one point, you were pushing to get in contact with DeSanto to talk about his BSG, weren't you? Did you ever find contact info? If you did, use it to ask him about these comments: http://www.colonialfleets.com/forums...9188#post39188 Mr. DeSanto suddenly seems to be singing the "Give it a Chance" chorus. I am Dawg :warrior: |
What did you want him to do? Make waves. If he or Larson are too vocal at this point we could get SCREWED when it comes time for the big screen version of BG or Battlestar Pegasus. Hold tight the fight may still be winable.
|
I am thinking of writing up a petition and posting it here as a test.
|
Put my name on it.
|
With more feedback I am thinking of an online petition.

After watching the original 'Stargate' movie the other night, the GF mentioned that the Emmerich/Devlin team would make a GREAT Galactica movie.
I tend to agree. They have the knack of making the big screen 'spectacle' movie of the type that would do Galactica justice. Just the right amount of action, humour and in-jokes to make it a great time at the movies. Throw in a deliciously over the top David Arnold score and I'd be in Galactica heaven! After seeing Stargate again, I felt that those guys might just be Galactica fans themselves and know how to do it right. And we'd probably see the REAL Galactic herself once again. GRRRRRRR! IMHO of course. Anyone else agree? Cheers, Mike |
I totally agree KINGFISH! We definately need to
ORGANIZE! |
Absolutely, Kingfish.
Let's stop bitching about the mini, forget about it, really, and figure out how we can best pull together and support a faithful TRUE Galactica-universe movie! Whatever the plan, count me in. --CT |
Not forget about it, CT, not yet, but otherwise your sentiment is correct.
We can do nothing to change the content of the mini, but we can still have an impact on its airing and its audience. To that end we need to keep our educational efforts ongoing. I would very much like to take part in supporting a "real Galactica" movie, too. Point me in the right direction and I'm there. I am Dawg :warrior: |
I'm in.
|
Point taken, Dawg.
|
Definitely count me in.

My point is that there are plenty of other production people who could make this thing into the epic movie it deserves, much better than the low-rent telemovie-of-the-week production we are faced with now. TPTB need to think bigger if they are to make the most of this sleeping-giant property. Dodgy cable TV movie production values and second-hand Star Trek style writing won't cut it. How about remaking Star Wars for the small screen? Nah, didn't think so! Mike |

The thing I'm stressing was that Godzilla (or GINO, as in Godzilla In Name Only) was a remake and Devlin/Emmerick screwed up humungously. Stargate & independence Day, on the other hand, were not remakes. Sure, they may have had some similarities to other films, but they were not remakes, and, IMO, were quite good. If Devlin/Emmerick were to remake Battlestar Galactica, you may as well as just dig a 6-foot grave for the show and say hello to Battlestar GINO. Now, Tom & Bryan on the other hand, that's another story. :) Just my two sents on the deal. |
Was it really that bad though? It was certainly better than the Godzilla movie I saw last night! :D I just think that these guys would be right on the vibe of Galactica, being of the same generation as I who saw the show first run! How it would turn out is anyone's guess, but it would have to be better than what is in the can right now. They sure know how to get a lot of visual impact on screen. I am talking production values here- I'm naturally assuming a Hatch and DeSanto writing or advisory role!
Hey, there are various other people I would like to see do the show too. Heck, James Cameron would make a hell of a Galactica adventure I'm sure. I'm just contrasting the big screen spectacle possibilities against the watered down telemovie we are getting. The show deserves better and we may have to look to unexpected people to pull it off.
