A Moment of Solace

This week I received some terrible news. You know that kind, when the spirit inside you is like some wild animal desperately trying to get out and away from the pain. But we are stuck with these shells and to escape all we can do is appease the shell in whatever hopeless fashion we can devise.

The way I found surprised me. We had a hot day, about 103, and the wind had come up and dropped the temp down to the comfortable 70's. I sat quietly in the living room with the windows open and a beautiful breeze whisping in thru the sheers, and watched the sun go down. I let the moment wash over me and felt the cool wind on my legs, and marveled at the play of light and shadow on the wall. In a home full of 21st century gadgets and technology I found solace in the simplest of pleasures. The sunset was free, and the wind would never mail me a bill.

You may wonder why I love this show, Battlestar Galactica so much, after so long. It is a preciously preserved piece of joy from my past. Moments I will never live again unless someone continues where Hand of God left off. And this mini hurts me so much; like the other terrible news I received, I feel desperate to get away from this empty shell that hears and sees and touches things we have no control over receiving.

But I can do one simple thing at least. I can plug a cheap, aging tape into the VCR and watch Dirk and Richard fret themselves upon the stage again.

And I can find solace in that.

Affectionately and respectfully,
Muffit

Muffit...

I saw your post on the SciFi.com board. I hope that whatever the terrible news you received was, things will get better for you real soon.

It's something how a TV show can help make us feel better in times or sorrow. Somehow I don't think this new mini is going to do that. Too many problems with the characters.

Feel better Muffit. Remember that you have friends out there who care about you.

I left you a reply too at the Sci-Fi board AlphaNova. Thank you for your kindness :)

methinks you are so right about that Tom. That is why it will fail in the long run, its gonna get boring writing sex and the same crappy storylines so very soon!
