Galactica at IMDB

I've just noticed that imdb already has a Galactica 2003 page. There have been some comments already. One of them reviews Ron Moore's leaked script.
Since many people who come to the Internet looking for news about films or TV shows look at the imdb, I thought it might be good if some of us added some more comments.
It's quite likely that many potential viewers do not come to specifically BG message boards, so they may not be aware of what's really going on, and be misled by the Scifi Channel's ads. But many of them may be regular visitors of imdb.

He implys that retelling a story is not the way to go but that is not what the continuation fans want. A pick up 25 years later that blends the old and new is what I believe most of us want. Why do they keep harping on the retelling thing? This RDM mess should at least be called something else

I started reading and stopped after hearing that Starbuck and Zak were an item. They even compare the new Starbuck to Dirk's character. What the hell were they watching when TOS Galactica aired.

Of Course King of the Douche Bags

Milty chimed in with his "Unbiased Review"

I think I'm going to go be sick now...

KJ May 2nd, 2003 01:55 PM

I'm a member of IMDB. when i find time i'll make you all proud when i give my two cent worth on that Galactica 2003 board. Mility may have his views but he is in for a rough time if he thinks the majority of Battlestar fans thinks the same way he and the remake lovers do.

Chime in with your support also over there and let people know this B.S. ain't what should be happening at all. Let folks know even Edward James Olmost says don't watch it!

Definetly KJ

Score one for the Home Team!!!

KJ May 2nd, 2003 03:43 PM

I will very soon. But i hope i'm not the only BG fan who has membership at IMDB. Cos i hope the home team will back me when i do support BG over there.

I'm registering now

I'm waiting for their return e-mail...

Hopefully we can post enough info that will convince a few.

Such as the Olmos interview, and maybe someone can post that "commentary" on the Ron Moore "Popcorn Aisle" letter.

We need to start discrediting these lying Bastards.

Also, I think it will be Informative to let people know that "Captain James" is HARDLY Unbiased.

Let's let the fine readers of IMDB Know the Truth.

Hmm... I think we should stick to reviews of the script. Otherwise, the folks at imdb might get angry, and delete out comments, which will do more harm than good.

jjrakman May 4th, 2003 12:50 AM

Approximately how long does it take IMDB to approve of a review before it is posted? Will they notiify me if they decide not to post it?

LucianG May 4th, 2003 11:15 AM

I think Owd was taking this to the Council a week or two ago, but I haven't heard back yet. Since this is now in the open, please be aware of the following:

If you are doing a review, be sure to read the stated requirements first, reprinted below (like, if you include spoilers, tell that you are). Make sure you identify your review as a "script review" so you can also post a review of the show after it airs.

Review period for "reviews" is between 24 and 48 hours during the week. I'm not sure about on weekends.

Lucian

The IMDB guidelines:

Comment guidelines
Please note there is a 1,000 word limit on comments. The recommended length is 200 to 500 words. The minimum length for comments is 4 lines of text..

What to include:
Your comments should focus on the title's content and context. The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked a movie or TV-series, but also why. Feel free to mention other titles you consider similar and how this one rates in comparison to them. Comments that are not specific to the title will not be posted on our site. Please write in English only and note that we do not support HTML mark-up within the comments.

What not to include:
Resist the temptation to comment on other reviews or features visible on the page. This information (and its position on the page) is subject to change without notice. A comment form is not an appropriate place to tell us there are errors in the database. If you'd like to tell us about a specific problem, please click the "Update Information" button near the bottom of the main details page.

IMDb is pleased to provide this forum for you to air your opinions on your favorite (or not-so-favorite) movies and TV-series. While we appreciate your time and comments, we respectfully request that you refrain from including the following in your review:

Profanity, obscenities, or spiteful remarks.
Time-sensitive material (i.e., promotional tours, seminars, lectures, etc.).
Single-word reviews. We want to know why you liked or disliked the title.
No spoilers! Please don't reveal crucial plot elements. If you include a spoiler without warning readers in advance your name will be added to a blacklist and, subsequently, all your comments will be discarded automatically.
Phone numbers, mail addresses, URLs.
Availability, price, or ordering/shipping information.
Any comment in violation of these guidelines will not be posted or may be edited to conform to the guidelines. In addition, IMDb reserves the right not to post any comment for any reason.

Additional notes:
All submitted comments/reviews become the licensed property of IMDb as set forth in our copyrights page.
Your submission must be your own original work.
Your comments will normally be posted on the site within seven business days.
Please write in English only. HTML mark-up is not supported though paragraph breaks will be inserted if you leave a blank line between paragraphs.

A couple more things

I encourage everyone to sign up at www.imdb.com to help our cause. The message boards will become important as we get closer to the air date.

As much as I'd like to debunk Captain James' review, the guidelines state that you can't do that. However, you can comment on that in the message boards section.

Also, does anyone know where to find the original review by karathrace's dad? If so, please provide the URL but don't comment further about why that is important. Thanks.

LucianG, I had it on my list to propose to the council but I got busy again and didn't get to it. Sorry bout that.

AlternityOrange May 4th, 2003 03:25 PM

Hmmm

The imdb says the maximum word count for comments is 1000 words. Yet the Daddy Thrace post Milton submitted is over 1600 words. Do you suppose Milton has connections there too?

LucianG May 4th, 2003 08:47 PM

I don't know, but if I get that link, I'm sure going to find out.

Afan2 May 5th, 2003 03:35 AM

Here it is, Lucian.

KJ May 5th, 2003 10:58 AM

Heh according to Jjrakman's avatar, Ron Moore may have got someone's order wrong in Burgerking.

Seems more people are getting pissed at Moore even though he has moved on to do Carnival plus extra shifts at BK.

Well.......not anymore Moore

Nice avatar Jjrakman anymore people with anti-Moore expressive avatar art?

KJ

Isn't Moore supposed to be involved in Dead Zone and Stargate:Atlantis? If so he isn't going to have much time to write episode of BG.

AlternityOrange May 5th, 2003 03:46 PM

Much like Voyager, Moore only worked on the Dead Zone for a couple of weeks and then left. He claims it was his choice to leave. As we know, anything Moore says has to be true right?

BST May 5th, 2003 03:55 PM

Just registered at imdb. From the replies, it looks like you'll have some company, KJ.

BST

btw, 'BST' was taken so, I used 'BattleStarTrekker'.

Just thought I should mention...

That The Second Coming trailer has an entry in IMDB

Yep thats right because....

In between writing BG episodes he either washing his BK suit, getting blood out of the last pair of pants during the last hold up, bandaging his forehead (i don't need to tell you that now do i?) or messing up another order of, fried chips and whopper jrs!

Sorry i just can't take news about Ron "popcorn hating" Moore seriously anymore or his activties at Burger King either. God i'm bored change the subject back to Galactica 2003. anything rather than deal with a BK trainee who raped BG.
