The Actors Are The Characters

How can one have a show where the characters aren't portrayed by the actors who made them special in the first place? Well you CAN'T Hatch is Apollo and Benedict is Starbuck.

"HOLLA if ya hear Me!!!"

The Adama/Baltar dynamic was as essential to the show's appeal, in my opinion. Certainly the contrast between the two helped to keep the issues of the series in focus.

And both actors are dead.:(

It doesn't sound as extreme to a British fan - everyone has their favorite "Doctor", everyone their favourite "Bond". We may criticise other portrayals, but we don't deny their validity.

I feel that you do the current generation of actors a slight disservice here. Because we grew up with tnem they may be Starbuck and Apollo to us, but that doesn't neccessarily mean other performers wouldn't be any good in the roles. Rather, they might deepen the characters by accentuating different aspects.

DeSanto had plans to recast the role of Adama and bring in a new villain to replace Colicos.

Erm, LoneWolf.

As I retire from the field for the night, have we just agreed on something?

If so, all I can say is good.:)

Be seeing you..

More than the actor, it takes the right portrayal of the charchter, as well. How well would any actor have portrayed Superman if the plot was changed so that Lex Luthor was actually an escaped slave of a race of genetically engineered slaves who had destroyed Krypton to revenge themselves against their makers?

Depends partly on the professed motivation of the Luthor character. Is he still a power-hungry villain, or is he more there for revenge on Superman by wrecking his new home etc?

Given the many guises of Superman (and the power of comics to create alternate universes) that might very well be a fun idea to explore, if it hasn;t been already.

Doesn't work well in a BSG universe though.
