In the tabletop RPG I have going, we went with the (unimaginitive, but straightforward) Alpha and Beta squadrons for our Vipers onboard the battlestar Isis. Eventually, we will have a Gamma squadron made up of the various flights/elements of Vipers scattered among the other escort ships.

When the players RC'd Caprica after the Ambush at Cimtar, we found and absorbed the remains of a ground-based squadron called the Renegades.

Here's a handful of other names I'd been considering:

Wardaggits
Roughnecks
Black Knights
White Horse
Dragon

He wasn't so much confused as convinced that there WERE 6 squadrons approaching...which was exactly what Apollo hoped to do... :)

In my story line I had Rubicon Squadron, though it was just shuttles to take survivors to the rag tag fleet...

I also had Angel Flight and Linebacker Squad as well as Lancer Squad and Shadow flight made up of stealth fighters

This ought to be revived, forgot how great it all was! :)

Some more ideas.....

* Io Squadron

* Helios Squadron

* Phoenix Squadron

* Warlock Squadron

* Titan Squadron (or Titananus Squadron)

* Chimaera Squadron

* Argo Squadron

* Phaethon Squadron (would've been a neat Battelstar Solaria 'Viper Squadron' sounding name, if you get the reference etc?)

* Erebus Squadron.

* Valkyrie Squadron (Another all-female Viper Squadron! Makes sense 'motif/mythology' wise?)

(And i really like the names "Agrippa Squadron and Vulcan Squadron". They sound very BSG -"ish" for a Viper Squadron name.)

Just some random names we haven't done before, figured i'd add even more.

Man, the potential this series had never ceases to amaze me. Its no wonder they always say, its the fan/fanbase thats the core and heart of any show.

Who thinks we ought to take our Viper group names and start our own comic series much like Star Wars has their Rogue's Squadron. Can't see why not, not as if Dynamite entertainment did us any real favors, perhaps a fan produced BSG comic series might turn up some very interesting 'must read' tales online?!

Well, very similar to Reaper's ideas about his fan fic battlestar, when we came up with the Battlestar Callisto squadrons, we went with the classic colors of the patch, hence Gold and Black squadrons.

we since have incorporated a Bronze squadron as well keeping in line with precious metals, etc...

How about Orion squadron?

Orion Squadron? Sounds alright, but Orion was used in reference in the series to a far off colonial colony or major alien world/outpost? Depends, but feel to use it if you want to.

Far as the BG fanfics goes, you guys want to get an comic artist or something to draw them out. You could hire an independent artist, but one who's familiar with doing science fiction/fantasy. And is interested in doing a comic story thats independently produced? Or something comic related for online production, like a webcomic of your fanfic etc.

Just batting a few theories.

Or try to fan edit existing BSG comics even? some fan on originaltrilogy managed to spruce up Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy. And got samples on their thread pages, as well as completed files for download.
