Set Design question - stripes on doors

I have a set design question for all you Galactica investigators:

On the doors of the Galactica (specifically Adama's quarters, computer room, game room) there vertical stripes are stripes.

NOW, the question is, do they have any meaning or merely decorative???

Anyone know?

I remember seeing blue stripes, red stripes and a small medical/fire symbol instead of a stripe in the med center like this:

Pegasus had them, IIRC, but there didn't seem to be any pattern behind their placement that I could tell.

It may imply that a certain color-coded security level is required to enter.

I agree with 137. Probably either a security measure, or an indication of what deck/section one is on/in. Simialr to some modern hospitals, where colored stripes on the floor will lead you to ORs, isolation, Pediatrics, wherever.
