Man, do i feel old

You know, I was looking ovver the roster and it became quite clear to me..With a very few exceptions....i'm older then all of you by many years..and as I sit here some thing come to mind....this is not aimed at anybody ..so please don't start saying I said he said..because that's not it.

I guess what I'm trying to say..is I came from a much different time and place then most of you...I still say yes sir and no sir..I open doors for people older then me and I'm not ashamed to shed a few tears when someone gets hurt.

I'm proud to live in a country where I can say what I believe and have that right just as anyone else here in this country can. I'm proud of being able to stand and say the Pledge of Allegence and sing the National Anthem...May fought and died to give me that God given right just as they died so you do not have to.

I'm proud of the fact that my mother and grandmother instilled in me the morals I have in my life today...to know the difference in right and wrong and to believe that somewhere buried..even deeply inside of each of us...is a spark of good...all you have to do is look for it.

But most of all..I'm thankful for people here like Don, Bryan, Darrell and Sandy..who under what had to be the hardest dicessions..still wanted in also instill in this board the hope and faith..that this world could and some day come full circle into a time when...we could live in brotherly love..with not hatred and bitterness..Gentleman..you have more courage among you then most men I know and I thank you for all you have done for us...

I suppose that I am to old th change anymore.......but i still believe that there is good in poeple of all races, creeds if given time can and will be able to work together..that they will realise in time that "THIS "..is all we have...to destroy it is in reality destroying ourselves..

Do with this post what ever you wish...call it old age creeping in..a senior moment or whatever you like...like I said ..i'm one of the older generation..who may also be pass her time but still looks to her youth for a place of peace and happiness...I've come home where I belong..and for whatever time I'm aloowed to remain..this is where I choose to be.

Don...many thanks for giving us a place to come and share without having to always look over our shoulders to keep explaining why we love the only BSG we know.

amen to that.

Tabitha October 3rd, 2005 10:34 AM

Dont feel bad, your only as old as you choose to be. I admire you, and though it may not seem like it all the time, I do read your posts and typically the wisdom in them, they guide me in how I view topics and I generally find I side with you. So perk up, your not old and dying till they ask you how to print your name for the obituaries.

Charybdis October 4th, 2005 08:53 AM

Well said, Breea. I, too, sometimes wonder where all the "nice" went in this world.

I may be 37 this year, but I still have the mind of a 16 year old!!!! As Tabbi said, you are only as old as you feel. Now, that's great for my mind, but my body does feel as if it's already 70!!!! Ouch!!!

Tabitha October 4th, 2005 08:54 AM

Kinda like my Jeep, it aint the age, its the milage?

tabbi

bsg1fan1975 October 4th, 2005 10:46 AM

Age don't matter as long as you have good friends and good times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still act like a 15 yr old at times. Dagnabit, I miss those days!

Flamingo Girl October 5th, 2005 10:55 AM

I act like a kid all the time, inspired by my grandfather who always told me to never get old.
I think it must be working, too, because most people who meet me think I'm in my late 20's, I don't always tell them I'm 40.

bsg1fan1975 October 5th, 2005 10:58 AM

we all have to act young at heart or we start moldering that much faster. If we were meant to be old before we were ready, they would have retirement homes for 20 yr olds!

Tabitha October 5th, 2005 11:00 AM

I tried to tell a guy at the club I was 21 so I could get a margurita, but that didnt work out too well... of course that was at the same party I was in the school girl stuff in. He laughed at me, right in my face! Im serious, that stunk....
Age stinks.. Im so not for age... I vote we ban any discussion of age and purge any age related threads hahahahhaha
JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!

tabbi

bsg1fan1975 October 5th, 2005 11:08 AM

uh huh! I really feel like a kid when my mom and dad start talking about things they did as kids and when they were my age. Mind ya my mom is almost 61 and dad is almost 53. But even at their ages they never act old.

Breea October 5th, 2005 03:12 PM

OMG...I'm older than your father and not much younger then your mom...arggggggggggggggggggggg

bsg1fan1975 October 6th, 2005 03:31 AM

so you can be my auntie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breea October 6th, 2005 05:50 AM

gladly...i need to have a few nieces and nephews..that would make my family complete.

Tabitha October 6th, 2005 06:24 AM

So whos daddy? Wow that feels strange to ask...

hahahhaha

zankoku October 6th, 2005 06:53 AM

Tabbi, when you are in your mid 30's you will be happy when someone tells you you look like a kid. We have a girl at work who looks like she is 18 but is early 30's. For myself, I admit to being 29 (ok sometimes the back bring things back to reality like it is now). Age is in the mind.

I think being involved with groups like this keeps the older ones young and gives teh younger ones a better perspective on the older ones.

Remeber that old age and cunning will triumph over youth and enthusiasm every time. <g>

Yea... thats why they have Viagra....

Youth and ignorance will lead to the future philosophy!

Shatter October 6th, 2005 09:48 AM

Well, I've already slipped past thirty, and am the oldest member of my household, a fact that my wife likes to remind me of on a fairly regular basis. On the other hand, I think she's come to recognize that in some fundamental areas of life, I'm always mentally going to be a teenager. I think she's resigned to it...I haven't shown any signs of aging in that regard for years. :)

bsg1fan1975 October 6th, 2005 09:53 AM

As I stated earlier my mom is nearly 61 and for her age doesn't look a day over 45. For some reason her side of the family ages slower than most people her age. When she and I are together somewhere people that don't know us think we are sisters!

newt October 8th, 2005 08:17 AM

I'm pushing 40 but most times don't feel much differnet than when I was 12 (when Galactica premired). Time is kinda wierd...I certainly feel much closer to 12 at 38 than to 38 at 12!

My mom started running in her late 40's...she still runs several marathons a year, and her and I usually do one together in Nashville every couple of years. While she's nearing 70, age means nothing to her....she just keeps on going. I like that and try to emulate that; I think that keeps you young. I also think that every day is an excuse to learn or try something new.

Atlantia October 8th, 2005 05:16 PM

What a feel good thread this is. It makes me feel young, because people talk about acting like kids, and being young at any age. When I was growing up, I was often encouraged to 'act my age' bit of a silly statement looking back on it.

:)

Breea October 8th, 2005 10:58 PM

Yep..even as they roll us out in our wheelchairs and feed us our nightly meals..we will still rock...LOL
