NO VIPER Mk.IV ! ! !

THERE IS NO MK.IV VIPER!!! IT'S THE MK.II!

Hey watch yourself. Maybe you should have a good rest and get yourself well before tackling work.

Best,

Peter

Mike

The term MK 4 came into use when I needed a name for the 1/48 scale model I had mastered.

MK 4 was used because there was/is a MKII Viper used in the NEW series; it has been called the MKII by Ron Moore and the VFX artists for the new series along with the MK 7 Viper. I just chose something in the middle.

Well explained Rob! Now DeSanto and i both know where the root of that labling came from ;)
But just so all know, it is the Mk.II :salute:

dilbertman February 8th, 2006 10:10 PM

If TOS Viper is MKI and DeSanto is MKII. Then what is the old Viper Adama used? MK0?

Hey Jim! And Salute. :salute:
I do not believe that, that Viper was known as anything but the Colonial Viper. Just Viper, at the time period, no one thinks too much about what version the first fighters are. And it was probably not thought about in the writing of the show. But, YOU know it is the DeSanto Mk.IV Advanced Colonial Viper. And that is the true designation of this fighter variant. Rob states that it was his idea to give it that designation, and To had nothing to do with it. And now, after letting him in on it, he knows where it originated.
Have a good night Jim, I'm up burning the midnight oil. Have a Viper that the world is waiting on. :D

MK II, MKIV, or MK X Tom's design is still the coolest by far. IMHO

So hurry up Mike I need one to set next to my MK 7 Studio scale Viper!

"A rose Mk II by any other designation would smell just as sweet."

Yes, but have to remake the gun molds! :D

BlueSquad2001 February 14th, 2006 01:18 PM

Am probably going to try some of the better mold rubbers like Rob (Sci-Fi Models) suggested to me. :D :D

spcglider February 14th, 2006 01:18 PM

Those look cool Mike but in Colonial the word radioactive would be radion (War of the Gods Part 1), just as plutonium is pluton (Saga of a Star World). Electronic diagnostic instruments would just be called scanners too!

Sorry to nitpick, but everything's in the details! ;)

Best,

Peter

P.S. I don't think Vipers are nuclear powered either, when they refer to the missiles in Experiment in Terra, they say "of some nuclear type" as if nuclear power is archaic. (Damn it my inner geek is showing)

spcglider February 14th, 2006 01:23 PM

I think that these graphics are from "a high source"... based on pre-production imagery.

So don't blame Mike for detail innaccuracy... blame the guy who's name begins with Tom D.
