Below is everything you need to know to successfully complete missions 1-2.
Mission one: Protecting the Galactica: Using your homing missiles (hold and press the square button) you can complete this section in less than a minute. - As the raiders come into view lock on to them (you can do 5 at time) and keep blowing them away. Destroying the Comsats: - press and hold the triangle button to find the COMSATS, then lock onto them with your missiles and destroy them take about 2 to 3 missiles. Protecting Palus and Cain - again press and hold the triangle button to find cain and or Palus, use you after burners for speed you to them - lock on to the pursuing cylon with your missiles and you can blow them all away in one salvo. Finding the roaming shield generator - again press and hold the triangle button to find it, then blow with missiles or blasters Destroying the Asteroid base: - Fly around it till you find and destroy all the tylium ports with you blasters then use the after burners to get to a safe distance. Mission Two (Basestar verses the Atlantia ) Protecting the Atlantia - As the raiders come into view lock on to them (you can do 5 at time) and keep blowing them away with your homing missiles. Destroying the Basestar turrets - very important to press and hold the triangle button to find your targets - as you approach the Basestar press and hold the square button to lock your missiles onto the turrets. - Use missiles and blasters. Destroying the Basestar exhaust port: - important to press and hold the triangle button to find your target - use a combination of missiles and blaster to destroy the port. - IT is located in the center of the Basestar on the side facing the Atlantia - use your after burners to clear a minimum safe distance |
how far away i keep getting killed trying to get away from the basestar

You need to keep going, don't stop. When the asteroid blows up, and you're not screaming, then you made it.
