Roses are Red

"Roses are red
Violets are blue
This poem is stupid
Cuz if they're /called/ Violets, shouldn't they be VIOLET!!!???"

The End

:wtf:

Just stopping by to give a big warm ((((((((HUG)))))))) to all my precious friends.

Your are always in my thoughts :)

Aw, Muffit.....thanks, Sweetie!!!!

Now, violet is a kind of purpley looking blue or is it a blueish looking purple? I have always been confused with that. I think that's why I called them violets. It was safer that way.

;) :D

Darrell Lawrence April 7th, 2005 10:37 PM

I thought Rose was on the Titanic... :D

Hi Muffit dear!!!!

martok2112 April 7th, 2005 11:59 PM

I would like to speak out on the blatant use of Violets in today's poetry.

Our children are exposed to enough things in life that threaten their very innocence without the necessity now for excessive Violets in poetry.

What's more is the graphic Violets that sometimes accompanies such poetry! Bad enough that our children are forced to use their innocent imaginations to contemplate the mere presence of Violets...but now, some poetry is accompanied by illustrations of Violets, thus removing the imagination factor from its rhyme and meter, and further thus desensitizing our children to the notion of Violets in ANY FORM!

As a concerned non-parent of no children at all, I beg and implore you to please monitor what your children read. Violets is not the answer. Roses are.

Hiya, Muffit, dearest friend. I hope this gave you a good hearty laugh. :rose:

:D

Most Irreverently, but with affection,
Martok2112

Hi, ((((((Muffit))))))!!!

jewels April 8th, 2005 10:04 AM

Hi Muffit!

My plant catalogues often call purpley things "blue". I think some horticulturist way back when didn't learn their color names in pre-school (witness words like "periwinkle, magenta and chartruse" in a Blue's Clues video on colors today ). They didn't know that blue, violet, and purple were actually different colors. So we are cursed with wacky color names for some flowers.

"Yes, Lucifer?"

Wasn't Violet the name of the obnoxious girl in Willy Wonker that blew up and floated off (movie version)?? What further proof do you need??

Techincally, violet is the secondary colour you get when mixing the two primary colours, Red and Blue.
The 7th colour in a rainbow is another peice of colour confusion perpetrated on us from a very young age!!

The Surgeon General should have a warning out on those things!!!

Glad to see you dropping by now and then, Muffit!! :) :)
And since Martok has such good advice:

:rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose:

Lara
