What's the betting Face is a girl! ;)
NBC has ordered a script for a pilot titled Isla Du Sol, about a young woman who travels to a mysterious Brazilian island, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The woman makes the trip to fulfill her aunt's dying wish, but uncovers a hidden past once she gets there.
The project was created by Tom Wheeler, who produced the 2005 television miniseries Empire and is currently working on an update of The A-Team for The CW. |
Mind you...

A-Team Movie Update New writer to help plan come together The big screen version of The A-Team has gone back to the drawing board, series creator Stephen J Cannell has revealed to Empire. Bruce Feristein, an American writer who penned three of the four Brosnan Bond movies including Goldeneye, was drafted in to write the movie in 2004, but Cannell says a new script is about to be penned by a new writer. Speaking exclusively to Empire, he said the new script will replace the half-dozen or so which have been written to date. "We were working on a script for a few years but I didn't like it so it's been thrown out," he said."We’ve gone through a lot of scripts that we haven’t been happy with for one reason or another. We had one script writer who had never even watched the show! The studio was adament about employing him but he just took the title and began to write anything he wanted, completely departing from the original show. The studio didn’t like it and neither did I." Although the identity of the new writer and details of the plot are unconfirmed, Cannell, who will be producing the film, has made no secret of the fact the 80s cult show will be updated for the new millennium. "I want to create it as taking place today. So the Gulf War could be a great angle. In the original, the A-Team were on the run after robbing a bank under orders just as the war ended. In this, maybe the four would raid Saddam Hussein’s bank or whatever." But how will it better the chemistry of the original quartet of George Peppard (Hannibal), Mr T (BA Baracus), Dwight Schultz (Murdock) and Dirk Benedict (Faceman)? "I would like the original cast to play a part - to have their input into the movie and to star in cameo roles. As for who will play the new roles, I think Bruce Willis would make a good Hannibal! "But I think the show needs retuning. I don’t know if BA can say ‘I pity the fool’ because that is so Mr T but Hannibal will certainly be saying, ‘I love it when a plan comes together.’ Little things like that will get a big laugh." A release date has yet to be proposed but don’t expect to see the movie before 2008. |
OMG! Peter that is a tragic thought! Absolutely hysterical, but tragic!
I can just hear Dirk ranting now. |

He states his point of view while making you laugh, and we all end up agreeing with him. |
Hi,
I hope that Dirk doesn't get emasculated a second time. Once is enough! However, it's awesome news that Stephen J. Cannell is producing the movie. Regards, Nathan |
Time will tell....but, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Hollywood has gone to hell in a handbasket, for the most part. |

Oh come on! He is so adorable when he rants! :girl: |

Kamikaze Athena, he's adorable anytime he's out in public, on a screen or stage or when he's writing. |

Yeah...sigh! It would be a drag for Face to be a girl but if he was, we would see and hear a lot more of Dirk that if Face is man. Could be a win for us. :rotf: |
The show would be a ready candidate for
continuation. Promote Face. A-Team often used a primary cast of 5-6. So even with Face, Murdock and BA, there would still be room for 3 new characters.
Well at least Cannel is still doing it. That alone would make it worth warching. Otherwise; Face, a Girl??!! Some people really have a wicked sense of humor. |

If george peppard didn't pass i would have liked to see a continuation.

Personally, I wish they wouldn't remake A-Team at all.
It was a great show, with great chemistry that will never be captured again. You'll never get four guys ( or four girls??? ) to mesh the way the originals did. Leave it for TV history and enjoy the reruns I say :D |
Maybe they could just do an "alphabet sequel" and call it the "B-Team".
;) :D |
I'm going to side with Tracy. Some things you just don't mess with. (Everytime I think of "mess with" I think of "Kamikaze Cowboy" and the chapter title "Don't mess with Starbuck". Ironic, how true twas. ;)
|
Dirk brought so much to the Faceman character(like he did with Starbuck) that the character would almost have to be rewritten, IMO.
If there has to be a feature film remake, here's who I'd cast: Bruce Willis(John "Hannibal" Smith) Jim Carey(Murdoch) Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson(BA Barracus) TBD(Templeton "Faceman" Peck) |

According to one of my sources, the cast is going to be as follows: Bruce Willis as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith Jim Carey as Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock Busta Rhymes as Sgt. Bosco "B.A." Baracus Ryan Secrest as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck My source says that he heard it on E.T. |
On no, NOT Jim Carey as Murdock...carey always does rubber faced physical comedy loon and the murdock character was actually more clever than that.
Plus Carey's turn in Me Myself and Irene as a person with a mental illness attracted a lot of criticism for being shallow, rude and unsympathetic. Murdock was more shakespearean 'fool' than 'Jerry Lewis' idiot offsider sigh, just my 2cents.. Cheers, lara |
Im not sure on Stephen J. Canell producing, hes done great stuff on TV but has he done any blockbuster movies?
