BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: The Exodus Episodes by Russell Sanders

Battlestar Galactica: The Exodus Episodes

Well, folks, it looks like another great project is in the works for old and new fans of Classic Battlestar Galactica. Inspired by OWD's "Return of a Hero", our favorite Two Brained Cylon, Russell "Sandy" Sanders has begun work on the next great Galactica story. Having read the premise behind it, I am fully intrigued, and if you are a fan of Classic Battlestar Galactica, then you will be intrigued as well.

Please check out this link to see just what it is Sandy has in store for us. The time to support good Classic Galactica storytelling is now.

Great things in the future, my friends!

Having read the premise to this, the story sounds like it is the answer to many a Classic Battlestar Galactica fan's dream. For too long, since the outset of Ronald D. Moore's reimagining of Battlestar Galactica, many fans of the original show have been portrayed as being "stuck in the 70's", not wanting to see physical changes to the characters, special effects, or the story.

This project seeks to throw all that out the airlock like so much felgercarb. The story being proposed and presented in audio format will be the darker, edgier Battlestar Galactica that the original story premise called for, but will stay true to the source material, living proof that the original Battlestar Galactica can evolve beyond its perceived 1978-80 trappings without radically changing the core and spirit of the tale itself.

I like where this project is headed. It intends to focus on the strife within the Fleet...and not so much on the epic space battles (although I do hope there are a few planned). In an effort to show that truly epic stories of good vs. evil can still have a lasting impact...and is sought out by today's audiences. Tales told with truly noble heroes, and ruthless, clear cut villains, this seeks to espouse the spirit of the original Battlestar Galactica, with its messages of hope, and family as while fleeing the Cylon tyranny, the last Battlestar Galactica leads a Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet on a lonely quest. A shining planet known as Earth.

There is a lot of talent out there, both in writing, producing, and voice acting, and with such a pool of talent gathered around this particular project, this story promises to be a Battlestar Galactica audio series to remember.

The time to support Classic Battlestar Galactica storytelling is now!

Martok2112

Enjoy. :)

Oh and by the way, I dig those quotes from Army of Darkness and Highlander.

Def Leppard = Rock of ages off the pyromania CD. You know, I bought that when it came out. In the form of a tape because that was before CDs. I think it was 1983 and Highlander was in 86 so your right. I remember when highlander came out too so I do believe that dates me. lol

Sandy -

The synopsis is very intriguing....

Everytime I see the title "The Exodus Episodes", I had some small hope that the storyline would be completely original in regards to story and characters. From what I just read, it looks like that's the case.

I will be most eager to see this project released!

Best,
Bryan

Bryan,

I wouldn't be all too quick to discount some old friends you haven't seen in 25+ years coming back in a big, big way.

Plus, the title is "Battlestar GALACTICA". When you've heard all 12 episodes, you'll see that the old girl and her crew is definitely the center focus along with what I think is a pretty good expansion of new characters and some pretty compelling situatons.

In a few circles there's been a lot of speculation as to what The Exodus Series will be like. Today I released a small preview so folks can listen for themselves and get an idea.

I welcome feedback.

Very interesting excerpt..........I liked the style of it, and look forwards to the completed product....

A few comments........

In the series we never saw (That I can remember) a Cylon holding both their gun and sword at the same time. Nothing to say it couldn't happen though.

Perhaps have the sound effects should overlap the descriptions of the event happening. Not to cause and interuption to the dialog, but at present the sound effects predictably follow the description of them happening.

Would the cylon now have a heat sensing eye to find the survivor with ? Would a technologically advanced robot have missed so many times ? I suppose this harks back to criticism of the series, and the Cylons were barely more than men in suits, as opposed to technically advanced robots. Form this excerpt I suspect you will keep it in line with the original, including its critised points ?

Maybe you consider this nitpicking more than feedback, and I can't say anthing less than I fully support you and wish you the best of luck.....

TwoBrainedCylon December 9th, 2005 03:20 PM

Ernie,

Interesting. I didn't intend for it to convey that the centurion was holding a rifle in one hand and sword in the other, just that he was armed with both.

I like the nitpicking. Keep it coming. Some of it may show up later in the show but I value all the valid nitpicks as possible since it only helps to improve things.

... same for some "Hey what about this ..." comments. They might be ignored but its always good to get them.

The preview is an excellent historical narrative, and gives fans an idea of the fate of the colonists during the assault on the Colonies.

Eager for more,

I have both episodes on my hard drive and burned the first one to CD. Haven't listened to the second one yet, but I'm sure it will be as good as episode one. Kudos to Sandy.

oldwardaggit February 12th, 2006 06:31 PM

This is really cool. I'm just about to sit back and listen to all of CD 2.

Once again Sandy, you da man.
