You wanted more... you got it!

Laurette Spang, aka Cassiopeia, has confirmed a one hour fan chat at CA on Sunday night, 3 April at 7:00 pm Pacific, 10:00 pm Eastern.

Mark your calendars now... Laurette is extremely busy in her personal life and doesn't often do fan chats... so, you don't want to miss this... it's not likely to come again for a long time!

OWD,

Apparently, the chat went dark at the :42 minute mark. Lost all contact, tried to log back in and received an error message.

I hope that the transcript was able to be saved.

Folks, the chat got shut down by the server host. We don't know why for sure (but we have a few theories) - but the entire cylon.org site is down right now.

Needless to say, the Fantastic Four and our repair cylon are not happy campers.

Our apologies to the participants and to Laurette.

You guys have no reason to apologize. We're just grateful that you went to all the trouble to arrange it. And hey, we got through more than half the chat before the problems ensued. I didn't get kicked out until :51 minutes into the chat. You guys are great...its not like you could prevent the problems. Stop apologizing.

Uh, the server host, that is. ;)

Maybe the chat was sabotaged by an Otori Sect member? :)

We're oiling up the cat-o-nine-tails as we speak, BST.

;)

Hopefully, we will be able to finish the chat at some future date; we will, of course, keep everyone posted.

Thanks, Callie, we appreciate that - but we're working to prevent that from ever happening again.

To everyone that plans on having a website- NEVER go with lunarpages.

I recommend topclasshost.

Hi,

Thought I would comment on this one. LunarPages.com has actually banned vBulletin from their servers. That's the program that Colonial Fleets is powered by, and the same program that the Battlestar Galactica Club Forums is upgrading to. LunarPages.com does not mention this on their new member pages when you join. TopClassHost.com offers a lot of bang for the buck. But their tech support blows. They use an e-mail tech support system, and frequently ignore support requests from their customers. I left TopClassHost.com over a year ago because of this, and switched to Globat.com. Globat.com utilizes a ticket-based tech support system, and does not ignore e-mail support tickets from their customers. BattlestarGalacticaClub.com renewed for a second year with Globat.com this January.

Regards,

Nathan

I've yet to have a problem with topclasshost (they're in Great Britain, btw). I currently have a slew of sites running with them that I work on including- Tracy's Dirk site, my soon-to-be opened BG site and just about ready to open LauretteSpang.com :)

That was sooo weird!

Not only did the chat go down - I couldn't get into CA for the rest of the night!

The chat program was a bit dodgy - I know that it was used because Mac users wouldn't have any problems - I don't know about them, but it kept locking up my PC and would have to shut down and reboot. I had the same problem with Richard's last chat as well.

I would like to suggest a chat program - It's called GojIRC which is basically a form of IRC. It's very stable and very compatible. The ST: Hidden Frontier website uses it and other than the occasional "split" that can happen on IRC, it's very dependable.

It's too bad the chat got shut down - it seems like the same thing happened before when Laurette got scheduled, except last time, it happened before the chat could even get going.

I hope that we get another chance sometime...

Bryan

GojIRC... I'll look into it, Bryan. Thanks.

Bryan, I just looked at it.

It's script that works with pIRC, which is a java applet.

pIRC is what we used at 3DG for a long time, and many people had problems with it too.

Found an excellent script. Installing it on CA first. Had Taggart try it out first (Mac user) and he had NO problems whatsoever. Neither did I on a PC.

Firefox tested. No double posts. No flickering... smooth as a female androids bottom!

Darrell -

Here's a gojIRC script page for ya...

http://gojirc.willyps.com/

and

http://www.jpilot.com/

If you want to test that script you installed, we should get a similarly large group of people to "load test" it...

I don't want java applets :)

I rememeber Macs had nightmares with that when we had it on 3DG.

That was a good read but it was to bad the question about her being approached for a continuation wasn't answered.

Oh well, I'm pretty sure I know what the answer would be anyways. :(
