Forgive me is this is already been answered but the sources for the BSG insignia are pretty down to Earth!
Galactica Insignia: US Army Military Intelligence Branch, Gold from Enlisted, Silver for Officers.
Pegasus: Command Ashore for US Navy Personnel The flash for the Pegasus was Special Catagorey Army with Air Force insignia, which lasted until about 1969.
I am slowly researching other flashes from the series, the Celestra's was the US Army 78th Infantry Division.
Anyway, this stuff really interests me, if it has been posted before, I apologize.

I'm still trying to identify a couple of them Troksky.
The Medical Patches off of the galactica for a start, the med collar pips, and Cain's chest badge.
I think I have all the rest. Apart from his throat badge which seems to be a badge and medal combined.
I'd appreciate it greatly if you could identify the ones I'm missing, if there's any others you're stuck on let me know and I'll post if I know them.

This is great for people who want to buy these pins. This way, instead of paying outrageous prices from dealers for "Galactica pins" people can spend less and buy them from miliary outfitters.
Good work, Trotsky

having re-read your list you have most of the ones I've got except for the shoulder patch from the dead warrior 'Martins' jacket from the episode 'The Lost Warrior', which is the -18TH MEDICAL COMMAND

Greetings, Trotsky. This thread: http://battlestargalactica-fleets.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6881 also entitled "Battlestar Insignia" has several studies done by myself and others on this very topic. I hope you find it informative.

That musta been a tad bit buried, but very nice nonetheless. I love the fact that the BSG producers used Orignial insignia, looks good on screen and great for us fans! :bg04:

Yup! A nice touch for certain, and an inventive way to maintain a budget without inventing new designs. Most of those patches were unknown to most people with the exception of active duty personnel, so it was pretty much a win/win for the producers at the time.

Has anyone found an online source for those jacket clasps? I can only find them sold for a lot, was wondering what company manufactured them. I am thinking they might be found for less somewhere.

Yup. don't know if they're still available, but they're advertised on Kobol.com here:

The set is $19.95, but I guess that depends on your definition of "a lot". To me, if I was going to spend money on putting together an accurate costume, I could see putting out a little more $$$ to do it right, but that's just me.
They have some other interesting costume patches, pins, etc. that nobody else has. Hope this helps.
