View Full Version : My Return For Now

After giving things a lot further thought, and because of my great respect for Pete (BST) and his sympathetic ear these last few days, I have decided to resume posting for now.

I am still not happy over how this past situation was handled and there are things that I hope still get resolved, but at the same time there are areas of this board of great interest to me such as the "New Twists" section and the posting of a fanfic story of mine (again thanks to Pete's long effort to get that done) that do merit my attention and participation, and in which I know I won't be affected by the root cause of why I felt the need to leave.

This has not been a happy time for me in the realm of Galactica fandom regarding things that have happened in places beyond Fleets, as well as my frustration and anger over the critical beating TOS is getting in the public eye as TNS continues to get solidified in public perception as a "hit". My personal life has been quite wonderful, albeit very busy and active, and that's why seeing sources of potential aggravation have had the capacity to give me a much shorter temper about things because more than ever, outlets such as these need to be a respite from the hard work of real life and not a source for aggravation. I like to think that the potential for these parts of Fleets to provide that respite can still exist, though it is my hope that the area of aggravation will not return.

Eric, thanks for the chance. :rose: Looking forward to seeing that fanfic get posted. File logistics had that delayed too long. (Peter Noble: this is your head's up, Eric has something special for you!)

Eric -

I too am pleased that you are staying. It just wouldn't be the same place without you. Please understand, it's a rocky boat for all of us and sometimes it gets to you in ways that you cannot predict. If it weren't for the people I work with at Fleets and support from some of the members too, you wouldn't be reading this, as I wouldn't be here to write it to you.

You are a vauled member of Fleets, don't let anyone else make you feel like you aren't. The thing of it is, there are times when things go well and it's quiet, so you don't feel pressed to tell folks how much you appreciate them being around and the contributions they make to the environment. We always see the bad stuff much more easily and the more positive notes get swept under by it.

I have my good days and a few bad ones too - It's on those bad days, that you need that support more than others. If you ever need support, you can contact me or one of the other mods, we would be more than happy to give you that lift when you need it.

Best,
Bryan

I am so happy to see you back Eric.

As you can see, we have created your very own forum area to post your wonderful works. Please feel free to add to those and share more if you have time.

Please remember you are always welcome and encouraged to come to any of us, should you feel anyone is not respectfully treating you here. And please be sure to ask us for help (me too!), before considering withdrawing the sharing of your intelligent insights here at Fleets.

With affection and respect,
Muffit

Eric,

Thank you for the kind words. That means a lot to me.

I also thank you for the willingness to engage in conversation. Some may have just walked, not looking back. You gave us a chance and for that we're grateful.

I :salute: you, my friend.

Pete

Eric,

I'm glad you have reconsidered your decision to leave.

Your fanfic is one of my refuges that helps protect my passion for BSG from the many evils of being ignored, reimaginations, false hopes, factionalisation and when things generally get so ugly & out of control in fandom.

We've had more plagues than Pharoah
And we didn't deserve them!!

Exploration of BSGs vast potential can create a buffer from the disappointments.

I hope storytelling will always be a place of refuge for you, too.

I love that you are willing to share your talent with us.

:salute:

Cheers,
Lara

Eric I am happy to see you have reconsidered and have returned, it was starting to look grim for the fleets when the cream of the talented posters leaving. I am looking forward to reading your fanfic.

Eric,
Your old pal Steve here. Glad to have you back, because I've always enjoyed reading your stories...going way back to '98. Glad to see you're sticking around.

Welcome back, Eric.

You won't have to worry about moderating from my end, cause I have stepped down. :)

In any case, Eric, you are an awesomely talented writer, and your passion for Classic Galactica is commendable. Keep up the good works.

And like Gemini said, we all get our boat rocked. :)

Respectfully,
Steve Dunlap (Martok2112)
