Whos got the Return Of The King (Extended Version)?

Title says it all. I just finished watching the extended version of the Return Of The King. What a cinematic masterpiece!

I'm in a bit of a quandary, on this one. I will definitely have it BUT, I don't have the EE for FOTR and TTT.....AND today, I saw the complete trilogy, EE version for about $90 at Best Buy.

So, I'm just a wonderin'.........what am I going to do???

Jewels in Gollum mode. Has all 3 parts, needs to set aside a week to watch them! :) Not fare for the little night-owl in the house is the rub!

One question, does the extended version tie up things with the shire and Sauron in a way that more closely resembles the book? Didn't kill me the way they did it in the shorter version of the movie, just curious.

I'll shell out $30-40 for a season of Ren and Stimpy, but I think I'll wait on these till they come down in price a bit.

Was that the Extended Edition? If so then, it's a no-brainer. The current price for ROTK-EE is in the $30 range.

I assume you refer to The Scouring of the Shire? No, things with the Shire do not tie up as stated in the book. If you recall, Saruman ends up getting killed in the Shire by Wormtongue and Wormtongue ends up getting killed by hobbits. This isn't exactly how they meet their demise in the extended version of the film.

I didn't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen the extended version of the film, but Saurman appears with Wormtongue in Isengard above the tower of Orthanc and exchanges words with Theoden and Gandalf. Theoden tells Grima that he wasn't always as he is now and asks him to return as a man of Rohan, but Saruman scoffs at Theoden and pushes Grima back. Gandalf having broken Sauman's staff begins to question Saruman about the enemy's plans. Grima then grabs a dagger and plunges it into Saruman's back and he (Grima) is then quickly taken out by one of Legolas' arrows. Sauman falls off Orthanc and gets impaled on a water mill (a bit graphic, but looks cool). It is here where you see the Palantir fall from Sauman's hand into the water where it is picked up by Pippin. Not exactly portrayed as in the book, but it worked.

Of course, there's much more in the extended version, but I won't spoil it any further for those who haven't seen it yet. ;)

I bought the extended version last week, but I'm not going to watch it until Christmas night. :)
And on Boxing Day, I'll watch it again with the Peter Jackson commentary track! :cool:
