007-Black Bond?

Rumors are spreading in the British media that black actor Colin Salmon will be cast as the next James Bond. Apparently a number of large bets were placed on Samson landing the role, which caused bookmaker Ladbrokes to suspend betting fearing insider knowlage. But other bookies are still taking bets with Ewan McGregor still favorite.

Regardless of who gets the role, what do you think of a black man playing Bond? Given that Battlestar Galactica has had established characters changing sex(Starbuck) colour(Tigh) or both!(Boomer), I think we are in a good position to judge this.
I'm not sure about it at all. While I'm sure many actors could give brilliant a performance as a secret agent regardless of they're gender, nationality or skin colour. For me James Bond has to be a white, upperclass Brit.

Black James Bond? No. No. No. I would feel that they were taking advantage of the black actor for controversy's sake only. Sophisticated white British guy with a penchant for flirting (and a little more) with any attractive lady that crosses his path--Yes.

Good for him. Sophisticated, British black man. Every boy should have a chance to be thier hero, and anyone who can't get their heads around it can get over it. :P

Silly designations, anyway. It's hard to find people in most immigration friendly countries who are really pure 'white' or 'black'. Bond, to me, is about powerful, controllled, intelligent and posessed of all the cool gadgets, and a babe magnet. M1 (wasn't he M1?) can hire a black guy.

No no I like him English and white, thats how he was created and that how he should stay
just as he is in the books, I am tired of film makers changing the basic looks of characters
because it the done thing.
